i have no credit card with the last 4 digits they provided. nowhere in the paperwork does it provide the name of the credit card company issuing the card. there is also no phone number to call, but there is a website to contact which i hesitate to get involved with since I don't want to give out any personal information. how can i find out what company supposedly issued this card?

I'd say ignore it
however, I would place a fraud alert on your credit reports
you can re-new it every three months

I was receiving shady letters from a credit card co. and contacted the FTC and got info from them so I would try that. Otherwise you may be able to get a phone number from the website on your papers and just make sure to not give any of your personal info out to them. Good luck

It has become a regular practice for companies to ask for the last four of your ssn for verification purposes instead of asking for your entire ssn. With so much identity theft, it may be a safer thing for you if they do it this way. If it really is you, then you should know your all of your ssn. If it is not you, that person may not have your ssn and could be stopped from getting further information about your account or setting up an account that you are not aware of.

Most likely there is no card. This is probably a scam to try to get personal information from you so someone can get a card and ruin your credit. If you want to dig further into this, reply back and ask them to mail you information with a proper address so you can report them to the proper authorities.
