I would update the resume now then start sending them out a couple of weeks before the baby is born. You probably won't get interviews until after it is born then can talk about when you can start. Ask your husband to take a couple of weeks off when the new job starts so you can work even if you aren't ready to put baby in daycare. There isn't a special reason to wait 6 weeks is there?

well it wouldn't hurt if you start exploring possible work positions you are most keen to join now. You can even give out resume or letters of intent to the companies you intent to explore BUT make sure you specify your condition right now and that actual employment would only be possibl after the 6 weeks recovery period. I am sure companies (specifically Human Resources Dept) would be more than glad to keep your file as future reference - if they find your qualifications appropriate to their needs. Good luck

I guess it depends on what kind of job you are looking for. A lot of companies would be reluctant to hire someone 4 1/2 months before the can start working.
