Is there a site where I can go to find out the percentage that the federal government takes out of your paycheck? How about the state tax? If there isn't one, does anyone know the percentage and how to calculate the state tax?

"the state tax". Um WHICH STATE?

As for Federal taxes look here - http://www.irs.gov/individuals/index.html

Federal Withholding depends on what you are claiming (Single/0, Married/1, etc)

Social Security tax is 6.2% and Medicare tax is 1.45%. Some employers show this as one line item "FICA" so 7.65% would be taken out if combined.

For federal, download Publication 15 Circular E at irs.gov

Every state is different - your state website probably gives that info.

The amount depends on the number of deductions you request on your W4 form. This form is required when you're hired for a job.
