okay, I faxed all my info to the company who wants to hire me for this position.
For my ID's, I faxed a copy of my driver's license [of course valid,ha!] and a copy of my birth certificate.
I get an email today, which I thought was rather snotty. and she said that I needed to send in two forms of ID, which I've already done!
The other receptionist told me Friday "all my paperwork came in"!
I don't understand that person, never have run into a weird prob like this, [well maybe she's on drugs?]

it is POSSIBLE that the person who picked up the faxes you sent lost a page on the way to personnel--this happens. Simply send another fax with JUST the ID material and let them know the fax is coming or was just sent. The receptionist has NO WAY to know what you sent so is in no position to tell you it all came in.

When an employer is filling out an I-9 (the form they need the 2 IDs for), they legally have to see it in person. Also, if you provide a passport, you don't need any additional forms of ID. The I-9 states that you have a choice of IDs: you can provide 1 ID from Column A of acceptable forms of ID & a passport is 1 from that column) OR you can provide one from Column B (drivers license, school ID, report card, green card are among a number listed here) AND one from Column C (birth certificate, social security card, etc). I do this all the time and as an employer I must see the actual document... not a fax. If you're under 18, I also must see your working papers (I can then ask you to make a copy for me if I don't have a copier available) and I attach the actual working papers (which I'd give back to you when you leave employment with me), or I keep the photocopy. Go in and see your employer in person. That way she's legally covered and you know she's gotten it.

Call back the person who sent you an email. Explain that you already have faxed the ID - and if they had any trouble receiving it? I suspect that they didn't mean to "sound snotty" - they probably have a pre-written email that they send out whenever they can't find all the paperwork.

There is a LOT of paperwork that comes in with a new hire - and fax machines love to leave out a couple of pages. (and, usually only the important papers get cut off!)

Depending on how busy a company this is, they may be processing MANY new hire forms at the same time - don't take it personally! - they just can't find it all!

Best of luck!

Go by in person with the ID's. Technically, the person filling out the I-9 form is supposed to see the actual ID's, not copies. Many companies will insist that they personally make the copies. Just a guess that this is the problem.

Two forms of ID, usually your picture ID (driver license) and a second would be a passport, that's another valid ID. Birth certificates and social security numbers don't have a picture. Sometimes a credit card with your picture will do too.

I'm not sure if a birth certificate is valid. It usually has to be a driver's license and a Social Security Card.

The Dept. Of Homeland Security checks to see that all U.S. Employees are eligible to work here.

Using your Drivers License AND your Birth Certificate will satisfy those requirements:

It sounds like the snotty druggie Woman didn't receive them, or maybe she's just trying to bust your chops. Just resend them, no use in making Enemies in a new job.

If possible, maybe you should present them in person, and introduce yourself to this crazy lady. (in case she decides to go postal one day, won't hurt to be on her good side)

They probably want a certified copy of your birthcertificate, it has to have the stamp from court system on it. The original from the hospital is not good. My nephew just went through the same thing with a job.
