We recently purchased a house in New York, the lawyers may have have messed up on the cost of the Mortgage Tax that was due from us (the buyer). A day after the closing, the seller contacted us about the wrong amount. Is the seller allowed to ask for more money after the closing?

necessary.

I work over 60 hours a week and I am tired of it. I do not like my job and do not plan on teaching again. I would like to quit with 3-4 weeks notice.

Everywhere I look online, teachers keep saying to others who want to quit to "stick it out until the end of the year." I think that life is short and I don't want to wait until June. I am tired of being stressed all the time.

Other jobs, you can quit with notice without reprocussions. Why does it feel so hard to quit teaching? I feel like a bad person because I am on a contract and the kids may be affected. I feel that most wouldn't care (I teach high school). Why does teaching have to be so different when it comes to quitting?

If I make an offer on a home that is contingent upon the sale of my home, and the seller can boot me if they get another offer that isn't contingent, then how am I any better off than just waiting until mine sells and making a non-contingent offer? Is it because there is a small chance that the seller will actually have a heart and stay loyal to me or stop accepting offers? Thanks.

I have a large house and live here alone. My 2 kids have moved out and I have 2 spare bedrooms. I do not want to move out or sell. I own the house and it has 3 bedrooms and a full kitchen and a family room.
I need some pro's and cons about room mates. I just think not being here alone all the time would be nice, or would it?
I dont want personal friends or smokers here. I work quite a bit and dont smoke, and really do not want smokers living here. Any thoughts on the subject?

Ok.. So i just started a new, great job. During the interviews and the job offer, my boss told me that there was no overtime. Now that I've been working for 2 weeks, I notice that alot of people work overtime and also work through their lunch. Alot of the reason i took this position was because of no overtime. I am very concerned... Should I ask my boss about this?

My husband is a farmer, and he receives 2500 bushel of corn at the end of the year. This year that amounted to about $8000. Do we claim this on taxes? And if so, how do we claim to benefit us the most...so we don't screw ourselves and lose most of it. Obviously the grain place that buys the corn, has to list on taxes as an expense, so I would imagine we would have to claim it. Last year H&R Block said it needed to be claimed as self employment income (which sucks because we obviously didn't have any losses on it) and I was wondering if there is a better way to claim it, because it is a bonus, a perk of the job...it is not self-employment income. Please help. And please be honest, I don't want to get into any trouble.
