I am looking to invest 30,000. I am 40 ish and will not need the money till retirement so I am looking for a SAFE investment...maybe an Annuity?? I already have IRA's. Any suggestions??

My husbands mother has stage 4 bone cancer and the dr.s have said she has 2-3 months to live. She would never discuss any of her finances with us, so we're just finding out that she has no life insurance, no savings, etc. She does have a 401k, but doesn't want to touch it until it's fully vested, and we have no idea when that is. She knows that if she dies with money in the bank, or the 401k, the state will get it. My husband has 4 brothers, and while they've all agreed her final costs should be split, they're looking to us for the majority of it, bc my husband makes more than them. However, I think they're overlooking the fact that besides our bills and all, we have 2 kids and he pays $1000 a month in child support to his ex. How do we get them to understand we're not rich, and at the same time come to an agreement on a funeral plan? And how do we pick a funeral plan in the first place that's both tasteful yet not as expensive?

I signed a 1 year apartment lease june 07, My wife found a great deal on a new construction home,and plan on closing October 26th 07. With all the down payment,closing costs, I don't have the money to buy out my lease and was wondering if a payment plan with apartment management is an alternitive,I have not spoken with apartment yet. What are my options? I have seen previous answers regarding this same question,but did not get a clear answer, I hope I don't sound stupid . please help

When I gt divorced I was left with £30,000 debt over the last 4-5 years I have struggled to reduce that to £10,000. At the moment I have reduced my creditors to 6 in number. I have the opportunity to offer them all a 1 x payment of 75% of the outstanding balance in return for a final clearance of the debt. Do they have to accept this offer or can they keep forcing me to pay at my current rate for the next 2 years ?

I am a nurse and make a decent amt. of money. I feel like I'm being ripped off with taxes. Every paycheck Uncle Sam collects $722.78. I live with my common law husband who has recently been laid off. We have two children. Can I claim him as a dependent?. I have been all year. I file as single with 3 allowances. Is this correct?. I want to make sure that I'm not giving up money I could use.

well do i have to wait for my manager to tell me when i get my paycheck?...or do i ask her...well im new at this job(albertson's)and i dont know if my manager will tell me..i was going to my job to try to pick up my check but my sis told me to wait another week to get my check...but i dont know if they already have my paycheck ready for me...and i didnt want to go to the store and ask them for my check..and them tell me that i dont get it yet.....i would feel really dumb!!

well i have been working for 5 days already....at albertson's and i am getting payed for the orientation...which was 4 hours ....$30....and these other five days....for 9 hrs...and i we get payed weekly...and i was wondering if i can go pick up my check already or is it too early..or should i wait for another week....becuase i dont want to ask my manager because she will think i am dumb....and i dont talk to any body who works there and idk...i know this question is dumb..but i have never worked!!!

I am overdrawn in my checking account with Wells Fargo in the amount of $1,600 for about 30 days now. The bank has indicated that they may close the account and charge it off. Hello,
I have a vacation home overseas and wanted to buy a car from here and ship it there (buying it locally is not an option). The problem is if I get an auto loan, the title will be in my hand but the bank will hold a lien. The problem is shipping companies won't ship the car unless u have a clean title. Does anyone know of any banks/credit unions..etc who wouldn't necessary require a lien or at least make an exception by giving me a letter that says I can ship it.

Personal loans, which do not require a collateral have high interest rates and using an equity line of credit is not going to work for me b/c of the current real estate market. So these two options are not possible either.

Any thought?

Here's the deal. I'm currently a college student. I have no job but have about 15,000 in cash reserves. I really like this small house for 75,000. I have a credit score of about 700. Would I prequalify for a home loan? I don't want to get my credit ran if there's no possible way to do this... The monthly mortgage payment would be equivalent to what i'm paying for rent right now. This would also be my first home. Any experts out there on this?
