Go ask your boss- I don't think it's a dumb question at all!! You're new, so you're not expected to know everything! Don't worry! :)

Most payroll checks for large companies, like Albertson's, are cut on set dates or time periods. i.e. the 15th and 30th, or every two weeks on Fridays, every week on Fridays, etc. regardless of what days or hours you work.
Chances are good they will come to give it to you, but there is nothing wrong with asking a co-worker or the manager what the payroll schedule (payday) is.

Your question isn't dumb, and you should feel OK about asking your manager.
Most of the time when you are getting paid hourly, your paycheck is a week behind the week you actually work, so don't be surprised if you don't get paid for this week's work until next week.

If you are to be paid weekly, you can expect you first check generally by the month end tops. It's customary to hold checks a while when you're starting out - though it would be easier to just consult with your supervisor as well.

Well, some of the companies wait until the second paycheck date to pay you when you first start. If you don't get it by then, ask. Congrats on your job!!

Many time, businesses hold the first week just in case. It usually takes them a few days to process it also. Don't freak but keep a log.

On your next shift, ask your manager what day is payday and ask when you'll get your first paycheck. He/she won't think your stupid, they know this is your first job and would expect that question from any new employee, first job or not.

If there is a Human Resources Department, ask them. Otherwise, just ask your manager. You may feel dumb, but at least you will know.
