I graduated from college with majors in Wildlife Management and Biology a year and a half ago. Since then, I've worked at crap jobs and had one seasonal wildlife job. Frankly, I'm sick of looking for jobs every few months. I now realize this comes with the territory and I'm thinking I want out. Any suggestions for a new career?

Do you have a job that you love? What is it? WHAT SHOULD I DO???!!

I have accepted a position with an online place as an independant contractor. They're legit and issue a 1099 should earnings be above $600 for a calendar year (but you're paid the full gross amount; witholding is up to you), but this is for I assume Federal and State Income tax. I have heard I am also responsible for my own FICA (DOUBLE the amount I pay through my payroll at work, where my employer pays the other half?) for SS/Medicare witholding. Is this true? Is there anyway to get out of this legally (after all, I don't expect SS to be solvent by the time I am gray haired)? Thanks.

He has a lot of debt, about $20,000. It relates to back child support incurred while in a situation about 7 years ago where he was unable to work, and ignorant to the idea that he should have went to court to reduce his payments. He came out of the situation with about $15,000 worth of back pay. The only other stuff on the credit report was related to ambulance fees, hospital bills and a Macy's bill. The Macy's bill didn't even list an amount owed, it just said the account was closed. He doesn't know what he owes or could owe to Macy's because he was not the one using the card nor receiving the statements. This was 7 years ago as well.

How can he fix this. No one will give him a credit card, (he's tried.) He pays the child support regularly and my caulculations suggest that at the rate his payments go, it will be 4 years before that back pay is almost gone. He can't afford to give more. He doesn't bring enough home now to pay his rent each month.

Is there really no way out?

Does any one know if a contractor pays tax on products purchased that will installed by that contractor as a capital improvement (permanent fixture and improvement of that home)?

I have been told by contractors that when they purchase the product no tax is paid because they have a federal and state ID number they use where as if I buy the supplies I must pay tax. Is this true?

I plan on moving to Phoenix, Arizona with my boyfriend next year. Currently we're looking for a decent, one bedroom apartment with a garage parking. I would also like to find a placed furnished but can't seem to find a good enough place so I'm thinking of moving into an unfurnished place. Problem is we won't be able to afford any of the expensive furniture I've been seeing online and such, and I'm not sure how Rent-a-center works. Can anyone help me figure out what to do, should I keep looking for a furnished place or does anyone know where I can get decent, cheap furniture?

I've just been resently let go from a firm...their base for firing meb was b/c a security guard that works in the building where the clients are, stated that I threw something at him (which is complete lie). The firm let me go b/c their who is stationed insided the building that the guard works in is the firms bread and butter. The firm didn't want any bad reviews from anyone from the client's buidling. now, the guard works for the management company of the building. I don't believe that he has any direct relations with the clients. I told my firm that the accusations bestowed upon me is complete false and that I have zero knowledge of the made up incident. Now, could I bring a separate civil suit against the guard for false accusation which ultimately cost my job? I asked to review the surveilance tape to back up the guards claim...the firm stated they didnt' think so....I'm just really pist.

Researching the presidential candidates for 2008, I keep hearing about whether or not each candidate plans to repeal the "marriage tax". My question is, since current policy allows for "Married, filing separately", is this really even an issue? Or am I misunderstanding the concept of "married, filing separately"? Isn't that an option for married couples that allows them to be taxed as if they were single while they're still 100% married, thus dodging the supposed "marriage tax"? If so, then what's the issue?

I just do not understand why people do not learned more about their tax situation. I am not talking about complicated things like selling houses, or receiving rent, or selling stock. I am referring to about their filing statuts, filling out W4 forms when they get hire, cashing out 401k plans, just basic tax 101 stuff. Personally, I think every working person in the USA should fill out their own tax returns at least once in their lives. It is obvious by reviewing some of the questions on Yahoo Answers that high schools are not dealing with it and they should. What are you views?
