i received a messaged from a Company called ACA asking to speak to me or me tax preparer wanting me to call them back. at the end of message she said i need to call her back ASAP about an investigation and it could be some type of preceedings. do you think im about to be audited, i only asked because i received NO letter in the mail or no calls from the IRS?

Wait a minute here. You may want to contact the IRS and check out this company. I believe I read a few weeks ago that the IRS may have companies work on their behalf in doing audits and providing collection services. Call your local IRS office and verify or it could be a scam. I would if it was me.

Do not call them back. If they call you again, ask them to send you,via the US mail, all the info. Do not commit to anything or admit to anything. You should only confirm your name and address. If you speak to a real person, and they start using legal terms and threatening language, tell them that after you get the hard copies and your lawyer checks them out you will contact them. Chances are they are trying to collect on an old debt that they purchased from some company that wrote it off years ago. They use "professional" language to scare you into sending them money.

If IRS was auditing you they would send you a letter. That would be the first you would hear about it. If someone called you, demand they make the request in writing so any scam would leave a paper trail.

no, it's probably a scam. i get phone calls on both my cellphone and my home phone asking that I pay some bill that I never received

Sounds like somebody trying to scam you.

Call them back.. find out exactly what they want. Sounds a little suspiscious to me though.
