As the first poster said, it depends on the state. In California, it is 2 years.

Here is a website which appears to provide detailed information. I only looked at California to see if it was correct.

One other thing that matters is who you are suing. If you are suing a governmental agency (city, county, state), the time is limited (at least in CA) and you have to present a claim before filing a lawsuit.

If you're suing a private entity or individual, then the website above should help.

the respond is somewhat "sure" you will nicely be sued. the actual question is will you be held in charge. If the kinfolk sues, they'll call everyone and everyone remotely linked with the area. The entity with the main jeopardy is the only with the very own wallet, likely the nursing domicile. inquiries to be certain criminal duty will revolve subject concerns of negligence, ie. replaced into the wheelchair equipped with a seat belt? if so replaced into it operational and in use? replaced into the lady left unattended for an unreasonable length of time? have been there any useful steps which you or others would have taken to circumvent her accident? replaced into the wheelchair in good working order? What steps have been taken after the accident to shrink the lady's trauma? Who did what and while did they do it? Be undemanding, exhibit subject for the injured social gathering and don't volunteer info which at the instant are not completely precise. in case you do not comprehend the answer to something asked, only say so..."i don't comprehend or i don't remember." Be honest and if a tournament is introduced get a criminal expert.
