I interview and hire all the time and it is hard to find good people. You should have no trouble at all finding a job for the holidays. The fact that you have been a homemaker the last 8 years wouldn't stop me from considering you at all, having made a sacrifice to be there for your family you would go up a notch in my book.
I look for integrity, reliability, common sense and good communication skills.
Put together a one page resume as honestly as you can. It doesn't pay to embellish things just list the facts and be as professional as you can. Include your name ,address, email, cell and house phone numbers. Put in an objective stating what you hope to do. (example; work part time for the holiday season) List any work experience you may have. I would put homemaker in as a job. Include your education info and any training that you may have. Put any organizations you belong to, hobbies and any other relevant thing you can think of. Normally I would put "referrals available upon request" but if you need to fill the page list three references, one that knows the decision maker if you are lucky enough.
Always write a cover letter for each job applied for. Do a little research on the company and state what you like about them and what you can do for them. Dress professionally. Be enthusiastic and happy everybody wants to be around happy people.

It barely matters what you put on your resume these days. If you have the correct credentials and interview well, you get the job. Did you work for the same company twice as an employyee or a contractor, or an employee-then-contractor? You might think being hired back looks good on your resume, but it also means that you left for another company for a long enough time for you to want to list it on your resume. If the inbetween job was less than 1 year, I'd leave it off entirely. If the position at the in-between job wasn't a promotion in responsibility, I'd leave it off too. Not telling you to lie, but omitting that information just cleans it up. Anyone looking at your resume is going to see it for just few seconds before it goes into the trash or a "look at later" pile. If you do decide to list your second time around seperately, address the reasons for the bounce back in your cover letter. What changed to make you want to come back?

you can put any type of orginaizations your apart of like the PTA, if you do work for the church, if your involved in school functions, or anything like that. One techinque I have seen in resume's is to list your qualifications, accomplishments and talents first, then education then just list your job expereince with dates. if you do not mind working with kids, helping out at a day care may be a good start. a letter, in stead of a resume, may be your best bet. ads which say no experience. networking your way in to entry level /and or low paying jobs. asking acquaintances who may be able to hire someone such as yourself with no business experience. good luck.

your a homemaker, thats alot of experience. You know how to delegate task's(telling your kids what to do) your great at scheduling( getting everyone ready to go to work.school, having dinner made by a certain time)you have great organazation skills ( keeping your house in order) the list could go one and on. You just have to figure out new ways of wording things to make them work for you.
