I believe each one of these offers is an opportunity for a would be thief to steal my identity. I want to stop getting these offers in the mail. How do I stop receiving them?

If so, is it worth it, and who do you use? I want to keep track of my credit score, most websites offer it for free, but only for 7-30 days and you still have to give your credit card info.

My husband failed to file taxes from when he lived 10 months in California in 1983. We live in another State and they are coming after him claiming thousands of dollars in interest and penalties on income that he earned while living there. To be honest, the amount they are asking him to pay is about a third of what he actually earned there!

When it comes to things like this, I'm completely ignorant.

Say someone is a nanny. How would they pay their taxes and all, so they aren't working "off the books"?

I want to be a nanny, but I don't want to be getting paid illegally and end up in trouble for it. I know sometimes the family you work for will report you on their taxes, but if they don't do that can you still report their payment for your own? Do you still have to give the government a certain amount each payday, or do you just give it all to them during tax season?

(Really, I know NOTHING about taxes... I'm only 18 so they are new for me.)

Despite the statistic, I am one of the so called 3% who is likely to be hit inheritance tax...

My mother and father bought a house in 1984 for 50,000 and have spent close to 500,000 over a 20 year period of repairs, resoration and improvement...

On current inheritance tax laws... if my parents die I will have to pay...

£520,000 in inheritance tax on the house alone...

I was going to include the maths, but thats for the house only, if your desperate enough you can figure it out.

I think its totally unfair that my mom and dad who have worked all their lives, hard, payed tax, national insurance for over 50 years should have half a million pounds of their value stolen by the government on their death.

We have looked into the Gift of Release loophole (which means your parents can sign property over to your for no tax assuming a single member of your parents survives 7 years following the contract)

However labour plan to abolish this option too

UNFAIR TAXATION!

Here's the deal. I co-signed on an apartment with my ex, well he got evicted and the apartments filed with a collection agency and filed a judgement against us. I got the judgement deleted off of mine shouldn't the collection agency be gone as well?

Darling has said he will raise the threshold to £600,000 for couples. As the individual allowance is already £300,000, what is the difference?
A Nil Rate Band Trust in a will allows £600,000 to be used now without giving anything away so I am confused.
Does this mean the allowance is £600,000 on death of the last survivor even without NRB Wills?

I refinanced my my mortgage about 5 years ago to lower my interest rate about on main 3/4 and get rid of my second mortgage. I took out about 60,000 and saved it a while, bought a few things for the house 20K(new windows, repainted house), loaned 25K to parents, bought a car. I didn't really look when I was paying my property taxes the last few years, but now notice it is up about 400 per year. Is this because of refinace? Is this OK? If not, can I get my money back for the property taxes paid? Please help, I really can't keep paying this extra money.

I finally decided on my car, im buying my Maserati Gran Turismo, black..shes gorgeous.

Now i want to move, our house is small, and im tired of living there.

So which is a better choice.

3400 sq feet, $500k, but a long commute to work
4200 sq feet, $700k, better neighborhood, short commute?

we REALLY like the smaller house, but the location isnt as good. The larger, more expensive one has an amazing location, in a multi million dollar neighborhood, one of the most prestigious in the area, and some of the best schools

what would be best?

My wife rolled her 401k into an IRA 10 years ago (we are no where near retirement) and the money has been sitting there untouched for years. If we take the money and close the IRA, what are the tax implications now (aprox. 35% of money?) and when we do our taxes for 2007? It is not alot of money and I contribute fully to my 401k

I just found out that keeping my credit debt percentage at 25% of my credit limit helps my credit score. I have a $500 credit limit and would like to spend up to $250, so I'd like to upgrade my credit limit to $2000 to keep my credit debt below 25%. Is this a good idea?
