I finally decided on my car, im buying my Maserati Gran Turismo, black..shes gorgeous.

Now i want to move, our house is small, and im tired of living there.

So which is a better choice.

3400 sq feet, $500k, but a long commute to work
4200 sq feet, $700k, better neighborhood, short commute?

we REALLY like the smaller house, but the location isnt as good. The larger, more expensive one has an amazing location, in a multi million dollar neighborhood, one of the most prestigious in the area, and some of the best schools

what would be best?

josh- now house buying isnt something we are to experienced in, hes had a condo, and currently a house, but it wasnt through normal buying channels. Whats the best way of talking down price in a competitive market? Unlike most of the country, our market isnt in a slump, prices are still increasing here

Hey, you should try to get one near the White House so we can be neighbors. I will even let you use the presidential pool.

I would think that if you can afford a Maserati, and a house over $500,000, you should be talking to a financial advisor rather than strangers on the internet.

Sounds like you can afford the 700K so go for it, better schools, better neighborhood--go for that.

Buy the better neighborhood, shorter commute and do not buy the sports car. Buy assets that appreciate not depreciate.
