Sue and Tom Wright are assistant professors at the local university. They each take home about $40,000 per year after taxes. Sue is 37 years of age, and Tom is 35. Their two children, Mike and Karen, are 13 and 11.

Were either one to die, they estimate that the remaining family members would need about 75% of the present combined take-home pay to retain their current standard of living while the children are still dependent. This does not include an extra $50/month in child-care expenses that would be required in a single-parent household. They estimate that survivors' benefits would total about $1,000 per month in child support.

Both Tom and Sue are knowledgeable investors. In the past, average after-tax returns on their investment portfolio have exceeded the rate of inflation by about 3%.

If Sue Wright was to die today, how much would the Wrights need in the family maintenance fund? Use the "needs approach" and explain the reasons behind your calculations.
Suppose the Wrights found that both Tom and Sue had a life insurance protection gap of $50,000. Present the steps in sequence how Wrights should proceed to search for protection to close that gap?

I see their ads all the time, offering to slash debt in half and such. While I applaud these services for what they are trying to do, somehow they have to make money, or they couldn't afford to run these ads. Where is the profit coming from.

Appreciate the answers in advance, thanks!

Stupid question coming up!lol
My husband and I both have separate bank accounts but we have received a cheque made payable to both of us. Can we still pay it in to either of our solo accounts or do we have to have a joint account?

Hi,
My teenage son has recently bought some stuff via internet and he entered our home address in the site.
But he doesn't have Credit card. He told me that he found an out of order credit card and exchanged 2 digits of that randomly and entered that number (the site didn't need any other information except Credit card number and expiration date) and it did work!!
I'm 100% sure that he doesn't lie about that.
I am wondering what consequences this may have?
May be the card owner is in a different country.
How can I give his/her Money back?

Thank you.

I am 37 years old and have only filed taxes twice, once when I was 16 and once when I was 22. I usually claim 3 on my w-4 forms and I am single with no kids. I know the government knows exactly where I have worked and what I have made, so why do people say I have to file?

...which is used in the trial balance, does not agree with the total of the debtors ledger. A contra of £5,000 has been entered correctly in the induvidual ledger account but has been entered on the wrong side of both control accounts.
A batch total sales of £12,345 has been entered in the double entry system as £13,345, although the individual ledger account entry for these sales were correct. The balance of £4,000 on sales returns account has inadvertently been omitted from the trial balance though correctly entered in the ledger accounts.

What is the journal entry to correct the above?
(Please explain the situation and your working.)

I have applied to be in the RCMP and have a bad credit rating according to my credit report I just pulled, in process of disputing some, but I have 7 derogatory accounts on there due to collections, can you make a deal to pay in full in exhange for them removing it from your bureau? If you just pay in full and send receipts to the bureau what will that do for your credit? Does it then change last activity date so those are on there for longer?

It was a technical interview. I was asked a simple programming question. I knew the answer related to loops, but I hesitated to answer. The reason I didn't answer it was because that (1) too simple for me to believe (2) interviewer showed me many methodologies before asking me the question; I was thinking that he might want to show me some tricks to do that question.
This was the only interview I got after my sending out my resume for a few weeks. I have left job market for years and encouraged myself to go back to career. My resume showed a lot programming experience and I used to work in a reputable company. The interviewers had a meeting after my interview and seemed to be angry at me. (From the email interviewer(s) sent me, I can sense the angry.) I sent an email explaining why I missed the point. However, I feel that they think I lied. I lost my reputation. It is very hard for me to get any interview because I have an big employment gap. Advise & Help!!

My partner works for a driver at a hire firm. He is on minimum wage and desperate to better himself so we can have a better standard of life.

He would like to do his Driving Instructor Training, or HGV Licence, but both courses cost around £2,000+

We have no savings to pay for these courses and his family have refused to help (even though they have the money!). We cannot get a Career Development Loan as we have a very poor credit history.

He even asked his employers if they would pay for him to do his HGV licence and they said no. They are not prepared to spend the money.

I have searched and searched and cannot find any help at all. I cannot beleive that nothing is available to help a man who so desperately wants to better himself. Please do anyone have any ideas, this is so frustrating!

I opened a checking and savings account today at a credit union and was denied a debit card for my checkings account because of my credit.

How can they do that, it's my own money? My bank didn't do that.

Im wondering that at credit unions that your debit card is also a credit card? I think it said visa checkings.
