10 Yrs ago, my ex-wifes spending and my ignorance wrecked my credit, I have finally gotten it all off my record, and cannot get credit now for a lack of history. No history, No Credit, but ironically, No Credit, No way to build history.

I had defaulted student loans in 2006 so the govt took my whole refund in order to help pay off my student loans. Well my loans are no longer in default and I know there's a place for student loan interest to be taken off of your AGI but I wasn't sure if I could claim this amount or not. I know the money that I have paid off to get them out of default I can claim but I'm wondering about the money that the govt took.

And if so where could I find some info on this subject, I've looked high and low and the irs. gov website doesn't really give you a clear defition of what counts and what doesnt.

I am in a position to pay off my car and my wife's car, for a total of $42k. That would still leave us with some savings, and a 6 month "emergency fund". We plan on buying a house in 3-5 years. Should I pay them off and be debt free, or stick the money in a CD for now? If I pay them off, I will free up almost $900/month in cash flow that won't go towards car payments and can be put in an money market or investment account.... thoughts?

I went in to negotiate salary with a company I have had three interviews with. The monthly salary they offered was $1,400.!!! Now, I did just graduate from college which took five years I have a minor and have had several internships. Plus the company offered NO benefits. Were they trying to take advantage of me because I am younger? How could they only offer me that measly sum?

My fiance and I are looking at houses and the option of building a house (in MN). We are currently renting and saving up for our wedding in December. After the 1st of the year I want to start getting serious and start building equity. I try to keep up on following the market, but honestly, I am confused as all hell right now. Can someone please (in laymans terms) break down whether or not now is a good time for first time homebuyers. And also please include a brief overview of how/why mortgage rates are fluctuating and affecting the stock market? I get confused with all the "jargon".. Thanks!

Please do not post worthless websites!!

IE...we build products and we get 100s of quoted per week. Well, some requests are so outlandish and some are so picky and not worth our time to respond. But some will call and be mad that we didn't acknowledge thier quote request. Sorry, I don't have time for people like this, too many MORE IMPORTANT BIG SPENDING CUSTOMERS to worry about. So, what do you do?
