$100 divided by 108.25 = $92.38
$92.38 x 8.25% sales tax = $7.62 tax
$92.38 item + $7.62 sales tax = $100.00

There you go.

Price + %tax = 100
price +8.25xprice/100 = 100
price (1+ 0.0825) = 100
price = 100/1.0825
price = 92.38

$92.38 is the sales price that brings the total to $100 including tax.

How about 100/1.0825 = 92.38 sales price
so that 92.38 * .0825 = 7.62 tax
and 92.38+7.62 = $100 total
