I've just applied as a cosigner for my son's college loan. Will it affect my credit score and the amount I'd be eligible to borrow in the future mortgages and home equity loans? (I have a perfect credit history and some mortgage-free properties)

is a credit score still essential? in what sense? there are lot's of advertisments saying "0% APR and after that is 8.9% for bad credits." and then whenever i check my yahoomail there is always an ad that says, 'sour credit? sweet card." there are also cars, loans, credit cards, mortgages, refinance that requires no downpayment plus good APR rates. how essential are credit scores nowadays?

Hi, I'm 21 and I'm very interested in buying stocks. What are the risks? Should I wait and do it when I'm older? My professor mentioned today that we need to do this things now, the younger the better because we probably won't get anything from social security when we retire.

We are almost finished with our first flip house, yea! I know it was a dumb to try and do this with the way the real estate market is right now, but it was my Grandfather's house. He passed away and my Mom gave me an excellent deal on it, that I just couldn't pass up. It is in a desirable neighborhood and the houses don't sit for long, so we were hoping to sell it fairly quick. Before we put it on the market, we are curious about renting it out until the market recovers in the hopes we can make a profit, if not at least get out of it what we put into it. I know renting can be a nightmare, but it might be worth it in this case. Any thoughts on renting vs selling and possibly taking a loss? Also, if we decide to rent instead, how do you calculate what the rent should be each month? Is it a percentage above the note, or is it based solely on what similar homes in the area rent for? Thanks!

Under pressure, I allowed the company to have "casual Friday".

However the optional dress code was, in my opinion, abused. Now I am not a prude, but when I see the sales staff walking around in thongs and scarfs, and those are the men, I wonder if I should simply eliminate the dress requirement totaly.

I know that many of the employees have a hard time affording the expensive scarfs and designer thongs that some of the others wear. And the feather boa that my VP Finiance flaunts around in has to have cost at least $2,000.00

So, to even things out, should I just make Fridays "nude day"?

I purchased a fairly expensive piece of equipment from a company over the Internet that in the description of the item claimed sales tax would have to be paid in several states including mine. I was fine with this except for in the end, they charged the wrong tax amount (3% more than my actual tax rate). After going back and forth with them and them finally figuring out I was correct on my tax amount, the refunded the difference. This made me wonder if they are even reporting/sending the tax amount to the state tax collectors. How would I go about determining if this company is even sending the tax on to the state or just pocketing the money. The whole process of dealing with them, they just seemed like a shady company.
