Under pressure, I allowed the company to have "casual Friday".

However the optional dress code was, in my opinion, abused. Now I am not a prude, but when I see the sales staff walking around in thongs and scarfs, and those are the men, I wonder if I should simply eliminate the dress requirement totaly.

I know that many of the employees have a hard time affording the expensive scarfs and designer thongs that some of the others wear. And the feather boa that my VP Finiance flaunts around in has to have cost at least $2,000.00

So, to even things out, should I just make Fridays "nude day"?

Whether you realize it or not, you have actually answered your own question....

In many parts of the World, and indeed in some places here in the U.S., schools adopt a uniform policy wherein wealth no longer comes into being. All students are dressed in the same attire, and therefore it is difficult to determine those from an underprivileged background, and those whose family live in relative luxury.

By adoting your "Nude Friday" idea, your VP of Finance can no longer flaunt her wealth and status, to the chagrin of those around her.

You may find that by eliminating the appearance of wealth, may just have the effect that you desire.

Go not be facetious. I hope that you were smart enough to have casual Friday on an experimental basis.

Instead of just abandoning it you might want to set up some guidelines for casual Friday. Do not antagonize your employees. You might start off the memo saying that because of employee and customer complaints and your own observation that the following changes are being implemented...

Depends on what kind of company this is. If you've got clients coming in all the time, then no. Also, you have to make absolutely sure that your employees are okay with the idea.

Go for it, but tell your staff than anyone participating has to pay a $2.00 charge as a lighthearted way to raise money for a worthy cause.

Then use the money raised to either buy yourself some very dark sunglasses so you don't have to watch them, or just pay a thug or two to blind you.
