What do you mean "without telling you". When you get your statement every month the due date is listed, so they do tell you. If you are saying you want an additional notification outside of your statement then no they do not have to do that.

It is not uncommon for your due date to change by a few days either way. This is why you always should look at your statements every month to be sure you don't get cut short. If it changes by more than a few days you need to contact the company well before the due date and ask why they changed it and if they can change it back. However, if they don't agree to you need to make sure the payment is made by the due date they have given.

Yes. You need to look at the due date EVERY time you receive the statement to make sure it's due on the day you think it is. This is common when the bank that backs the credit card changes.

Best Buy does that alot....that is why I don't use their credit, but another card. Makes life easier.

Yes, in fact most credit card due dates fluctuate since they use 25 day or 28 day cycles rather than monthly.

You should always check your credit card statement. Ever seen any of the tales of folks being charged some bogus fee for months cause they didn't check their statements?

I guess they can, provided the due date doesn't vary widely from your initial due date. It has happened to me several times with one credit card. Sometimes the due date was the 9th of the month, then the 8th the next month, then the 7th. etc. It seemed to bounce around. I called and asked that the due date be changed permanently to the ninth. This rep said I could not do this. Yeah right - just a lazy rep who didn't want to do her job. I called again and spoke with another rep who was most accommodating and changed the due date. Ask ........and persist and you shall receive. If they say it is 'impossible,' ask to be connected with the rep's supervisor. If that doesn't work, threaten to cancel your card. If that doesn't work, cancel the card. and get a different one.

One of my card companies just switched me from a 25 day billing cycle to a 20 day billing cycles (pissed me off big time). But they stated that "everyone's doing it". I just think they're pissed that I pay my bill in full each month.

Every bill should have the due date for that bill. However, they do not have to explicitly say that it is different from the previous month.
