Today in business class our teacher had us go to this website it was wallstreet____.org, i dont remember what came after wallstreet but it was a website where you could pretend to buy stocks and stuff and see how much money you could make but now that i'm at home i forgot the website. If it helps i remember that it says if you have the most money by august 31 or something you get 100 dollars in cash. Ring any bells?

My understanding is that there is NO law that requires that people pay income tax and yet I hear about people getting popped all the time by the IRS for income tax evasion.

What gives?

I got a letter from what looked like a lawfirm and it turned out that it was... but it wasn't a letter from a lawyer it said so on the bottom... but the letter frigtened me into to calling them before I understood all of my rights.

I told them I could pay everything the next month... and that my husband was overseas... I didn't know anything about disputing debts at that point and well my husband just went to Iraq and suddenly I get this letter that makes it seem like they will take him to court!!!

So I just wanted to avoid that at all costs because there is no way he could possibly be there!

They didn't want me to pay them next month and they didn't mention that I could try to pay them half or anything... I DO have a house payment so there was no way I could pay it all!! I could probably have offered to pay half if I wasn't so afraid and was able to think correctly but they scared me...

Then they told me that it was "OUT OF THEIR HANDS"

What does that mean??

I remember once I was applying for a job in a warehouse, and they hand me this 15 page math test to fill out, along with a very lengthy application.

I proceeded to rip up the math test and throw it in the air before I walked out.

I told them that I'm not in grade school, so I'm not filling out their stupid little test test.

I'm very good at math btw, so that wasn't the issue.
I just refuse to jump through the flaming hoop.

What would you have done?

I had a roommate and she just moved out. I had roommates before and of course there was arguing which I hate. Anyway one of my friends said that I could move in with her. The only advantage that I can see is I will be saving money. Its difficult for two women to live together at times. Plus its her apartment and she is the queen and the ruler of the apartment so she has the right to kick me out at anytime. Would you take that risk just to save money or would you spend your last dime paying your rent just to maintain your independence?

I compared the co pays on several reputable dental insurance companies and it is very expensive. Many things are not covered, even with the best dental insurance. Health insurance is usually a 10 dollar co pay for primary physicians and a 35-50 dollar co pay for specialty physicians. Is there any reason why dental insurance co pay is as expensive as it is?

I'm moving to NYC from Philly and having a tough time finding a place without getting ripped off with the online scams. I have tried craigslist, no fee rental by owner, etc etc and all are scams and cannot get hold of any real honest person. I understand going thru a broker is the only option, but I really don't and cannot afford to pay them 15-17% first years rent fees. Word of mouth has not helped, nor has apartment management with no brokers listings helped. I can afford $1500 rent and I really don't know what I should do. I heard about CitiHabitats and not sure if I should finally just give up and go thru them. I really don't know how else to find an apt without brokers and scams. I posted online on Craigslist and that was no help at all. The brokers get a hang of it too.

Any suggestions/advice/help will be much appreciated?? Much Thanks!!

I am trying to get out of my apartment. My roommates is the only one who signed the lease. He is buying a house in October. We heard that you can break a rental agreement if you purchase a home (good for the economy and all that) but I can't find the info. Where should I look?

I was subleasing my campus apartment to somone and the tenant stopped paying rent in April. Therefore she owes $2304.47, for the months of April, May, June and Jult. I never knew she stopped paying rent or got evicted. I jjust recieved a letter from a collections agency on August 21,2007, telling me I owe the amount that I stated earlier. Shouldn't I have been contacted when the tenant first started falling behind on rent?

If I was to send a letter or package from Maryland to Massachusetts, what would the amount be?

On a letter?
And on a package?

If so where can I get the information?

Thank-you!

Ok, I am having a hard time finding the answer I'm looking for, hope someone can help. My hubby and I do not want to foreclose on our home, nor do we want to do a short sale, as I hear a short sale is every bit as bad if not worse than bankruptcy. We have a second mortgage as well. If we file bankruptcy and put the house in with that, approx how long will we be able to stay in the home before we get kicked out, and how do they do it? I don't want them to come and slap a yellow sticker on the window like they would in a foreclosure and make it obvious to the neighborhood that we defaulted on our mortgage. Does anyone know how long we will be able to stay, and what will happen to the house when we are forced to leave?

To respond to the people who answered my question before and said that 4 unexcused absences were enough to fire me....You have to take in consideration that this place employs a lot of people and expect you to clock in at 2:30 but not after 2:31. If you do then they count that as a half day unexcused absence. Try standing in line and fighting through a crowd to make sure you clock in within 60 seconds!

My boyfriend is saying that when a small business "writes off" tools or clothes for 'work' they will get that full amount back at the end of the year. I am saying that they will receive a percentage of the taxes paid at the end of the year. Is either one of us correct and is there a website that states the rules of "small business write off"?

I am thinking about opening a brokerage account. This is sort of a three question in one question, but: 1). What would be the minimum for a brokerage account? 2). What would be the best firm to open this account with and 3). If heard a lot about trading in currencies, are people allowed to trade currencies in these accounts?
