I work as a secretary/aid for my father who is a Real Estate Lawyer. He has told me not to worry about it, but I'm his daughter and I am always concern for him.

The details are: A client has bought a condo/stack townhouse. I have researched and check the background of the management corporation that manage maintenance there. They are stable and their money pot is sufficient for any foreseeable future expenses. The purchaser (our client) will take over the home at the end of this month. But, according to my research, the current maintenance corporation is about to resign and is seeking a new management company to over see the maintenance of the property. My dad has made our client aware of this. But I am worry if the client will become upset with us, if the new management company is incompetent or raises the maintenace fees at their property. Should I check into the background of this new incoming Management company as well?
Please and thank you.

OK, so I am doing an Eagle scout project I have dubbed "Project READenforcement" It's a project I designed to help the Mississippi Gulf coast. When hurricane katrina came in, it wiped out the schools. Well, the state departments uilt them new libraries and stocked them and such, but the classroom library sets were never replaced. Anyway, I am going to begin by collecting as many books as possible for K-12. I started by going to thrift stores, and they either donated them to me by the box or sold them for 50 cents apiece. Now, I need some more ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions on ways I could get massive amounts of books at once? And maybe how I could set up monetary donations? Thanks!!!!!

p.s.---If you would like to donate a book (or monetary donation) please contact me at mike@kiakima.net Thanks again!

I am filling in my tax return for the first time this year. I started self-employed business on 20th January 2006. I decided to end my financial year on 5th April.

So when I send the tax return in this year I will need to send two sets of figures to the taxman – one set for the period 20th January 2006 to 5th April 2006 and another set for the period 6th April 2006 to 5th April 2007.

Now I am not sure how to put these figures into the self-employment part of the tax return form – the notes on the tax return website do not make it clear. Should I add the various figures from the two periods and put them on a single form? Or should I get another copy of the self employment pages and fill each set of figures in on separate forms? What is the correct way to do it? Any help would be much appreciated!

I was just wondering if anyone here has had problems with AOL. I have deleted my account with them SEVERAL months ago, and they have still continued to take money out of my account. One month it was even taken out of my checking account 4 times! I have gone to get gas of food for the week a few times and had my card declined, and come to find out AOL had tried taking more money out! This has not been pleasant at all, especially when not carrying cash on me! So if you have had problems with AOL's service please let me know! Thank you!!!

Here's the story...

The 21-year-old New York man said Tuesday he had no choice but to sell the ball — several people told him he would be taxed on the souvenir just for holding on to it.

"It wasn't hard. It was simple math. I'm upset by the decision I had to make," Murphy said. "I wanted to keep it. I'm young. I don't have the bank account. ... It would have cost me a lot more to keep it."

I never knew that you could be taxed on an item that became a part of hisotry, due to who made contact with that object. Do they tax antiques stores as well? Or museums for what and who they hold? Is this a law? Is this common practice?

I am new to credit cards so please answer clearly.

I've been good with paying my credit card every month so far, I've had it for about 5 months. I usually only have a couple hundred dollars or so each month.

This month I have $1300 on my card. I don' t know if I'll be able to pay the full amount but I think I have 0% introductory APR for a year. Does this mean that if I pay my credit card AFTER the date it is due I won't be charged any extra $$$?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

I am a 23 year old, saving money up living with my parents. My question is this, I make $82,000 anually. I currently claim 0 for allowances. I know claiming one would result in more money in my paychecks and claiming zero results in a higher return.

My question is this:

Am I losing any money by not claiming one? My tax return last year was around $1,500. Would that $1,500 just be spread out throughout the year or would I actually gain more than that in my checks?

Thanks so much for anyone's help.

How long should I wait after opening a credit card (2nd open credit card, third line of recent credit) before applying for a mortgage? I pay off my balance in full each month, so getting into credit card trouble really isn't an issue for me.

When a Real Estate Agent adds a listing to the MLS, does the MLS service provide the same services and the same types of data? And do all MLS services generate the same type of MLS Listing in each area of the country?

Does a listing in Caldwell Idaho have the same infortmation as a listing in Reston, Virginia? Specifically the Tax Roll info?

And does each MLS operate under it's own rules in regards to how the ONLINE MLS data for that "County" (or however MLS chapters are defined) is aggregated and displayed?

8/22/07 Yahoo article says that fan (Matt Murphy) will have to pay taxes on potentially valuable baseball.

I think this was bad advice. Doesn't it make more sense that he'd pay taxes only WHEN he sells it, otherwise who and what determines taxable value?

If he inherits stock from a relative, he doesn't have to pay taxes on it until he sells it.

Am I looking at this the wrong way?

This is the sencond month they have been tenants. Their first rent was 4 days late, their second rent was 3 days late. They have yet to produce proof of renters insurance (I do have the property / dwelling covered, yes). I am concerned that the reason they have not switched the ultilities is because they are having issues with credit (it was average, their inome was sufficient and they arranged a co-signer for the credit). How should I handle this?? They tried to tell me they would give ME the payment for the bills and I could send it in, and that they will "be sure to take care of getting the name switched on the account." But, I was not very happy with that solution and asked them to contact the utilities first.
