ok I work in IT for a company and we just hired a new person. Graduated same college I did with same degree just 4 years earlier than me. He has done IT for 2 years and then had 2 years off. I have been in IT since graduation(2 years) he started at 13 hr and i did as well, but he has worker here for 1 week and got an offer for 36000 at another company (17.30 hr) and right now I make 14.75 and have worked here for 7 months. Our company offered to match their offer. what should I think about that? he will of worker here two weeks and make 2.55 more on the hour than me? I am a bit upset to say the least but am not sure what to say. He is not taking their offer he is going with the new company. what are my options and what can I do to figure this out? i would have to work 300 hrs of overtime this year to make 36000. any help would be appreciated

It may not be attendance, but ability.

Consider asking them for the same $$ , or look for a different company as well.....Sounds like this one doesnt give doodly-squat about you.. so were it me, I'd go look for higher pay elsewhere before giving them the ultimatum...

If you think the work you do is worth as much as the work he does, ask for a raise. If you accept what you are getting now, why would they pay you more? The fact you were not the one offered the job with the other company indicates you are not going to leave for better pay.

iwould take a real honest look at myself and compare my to him -- i am sure that the company saw something in him they are not seeing in your performance!!! could be something as simple as being ready for work at starting time not just rushing up the strairs!!!
