Hey, i live in New York. I'm only fourteen (as in, i'm not going to start seriously working for a couple of years), but one of my dreams is to maybe work for Vogue magazine. and i don't mean as a model (i'm not tall enough, probably not pretty enough, im only average looking). At my highschool, everyone says I'm extremely fashionable, and everyone is always comlimenting my outfits and telling me that I always look so chique. But does anyone know how i can prepare myself to work there? maybe as a designer, writer, editor, anything? if anyone from vogue answered my question, that would be like, super cool, but since i know that there might not be anyone on here from vogue, anyone who works for magazines, in fashion, or ANYONE who might have a clue or give me a website (besides vogue.com) would be so helpful! thanks in advance!

i have one credit card. and i just got my second one today. i almost feel like thats too much. when i was in my teens and started getting credit cards applications, my mom scared me stiff about them, saying i'll ruin my credit and i'll never have anything. well, i'm 22 and have perfect credit. so i guess she helped me out alot. i'll NEVER forget to keep on top of my bills! lol. anyway. i was just curious to see how many credit cards the average person has!

I'm tired of spending my money on useless things. I'm tired of watching my friends blow their money. I want to be financially secure one day.

I know $1000 isn't much, especially to have a strong portfolio, but if i learn how to work the market and at least make a little return i'll be happy.

I was considering starting an account with etrade, but i know they charge about $12-14 a trade, so after i buy and sell a stock thats about $24-28 of my money gone, plus capital gains tax.

If i sell a stock, and then buy another, do I have to pay capital gains on the return of the stock I sold?

What industry/how would you invest $1000?

Any advice would be great.
