I was a business owner and the business went under 5 years ago. I haven't made a single payment to any creditors since then and I've had no income since then. I also own nothing, not a car or house or anything. I fear if I start a new business I will just be sued for my outstanding debt and never be able to grow the business and just be stuck for the next 5 years. Do I have any options at all that don't include filing for bankruptcy? Thanks for any advice.

I have been talking to an employer for 3-4 months now. I have been asked to visit them for a (final) in-person interview in early January. I have already been through several layers of phone interviews, but no salary discussions yet.

I have previously provided the company with a copy of my resume. Today they have asked me to fill out a job application. The application has a section on previous history together with the begining and ending salary information.

I was wondering MUST I fill out the salary sections, or can I just leave the salary fields blank since I do not want them to make me an offer based on what I am earning currently or what have earned in the past.

Obviously, I want to earn significantly more than my current job, but if I put my current salary on my resume, they might use it as a reference point, or even, only make a similar matching offer.

I realize that unlike a resume, an application is a legal document and I can only write facts on it.

in the cipf it says that if the brokerage is holding the mutual fund for the customer and they go bankrupt then I am insured, but if the mutual fund is being held by the issuer of the mutual fund themselves then its not property of the brokerage and there is no cipf insurance. So on etrade when u buy mutual funds do they hold it for u or are u deal directly with the issuer? ALso if you deal direct with issuer does that mean its more dangerous since there is no protection? thanks let me know any help appreciated

I have a property rented out by a (relative - sister) tenant. Bills for my mortgage payments were mailed to the property address and the rent is directly sent to my lender by my sister as our agreement. Unaware of the missed payments for Aug., Sept., & Oct., I was notified in Nov. when I immediately updated payments. However, when I checked my credit standing which prior to this incident, has been excellent because I never had any unpaid nor delayed payment ever since i got my 1st credit card 25 years ago. Not once. My loan payment for my primary residence mortgage is excellent as well. Please help.

I'd like to take out a loan to add something other than revolving credit to my credit history, but I don't really want to spend the money I would take out. Would it be possible to either add it to my money in the stock market or put it in a savings account.... Kind of like backwards saving, instead of putting a little away each month I put all the loan money away and pay a little of the loan off each month.

I requested a copy of my credit report when I moved house as I used to move around different addresses annually as a student. Anyway, I got it through and found that there was a defaulted bank account and credit card in my name on there with a bank that I've never been with. Investigating further, the accounts appear to have gone to a collection agency and paid off fully. Because of this, the police can't help me, and the bank is being totally unhelpful as it's been closed off (I think it's just a bank admin error, and they won't admit that they made a mistake!).

How on earth do I get this removed from my credit record, as it's the only thing on an unblemished record, and I'm concerned that it will affect things for me in the future! Also am worried that it might set me up for possible fraud attempts if someone has my details.

She works for a BPO which sets monthly targets of collection from debtors on monthly basis. She collected 3000$ instead of her target of 1200$. The payment recipt credit was confirmed about 10 days ago. On 26 Dec however the collection details were removed from her account, on some pretext that, due to insufficient funds the payment had not come through. She suspects foul play on part of some senior managers who may not have hit their targeta and hence have somehow robbed her off the collection amount and a justified incentive.

I am divorced and started in debt from that point about 7 years ago. I have tried to survive on my own in a high housing cost city and it has just gotten worse. My student loan interest is capitalizing because I'm already on a low monthly payment for that (not in default though).

I am at the point where I am having to charge groceries and gas and if it continues I won't be able to pay minimums on credit cards over time.

I earn about $55,000 but because of where I live, half my monthly take home pay goes to my rent.

I am trying to get rid of most of my possessions so the next time my lease ends, I can try to find a basement to live out of to cut housing costs.

In the meantime, I am wondering if I should just declare bankruptcy. I can't afford to pay an attorney. Would an attorney even talk to me? I am just not sure what I should do besides giving up, quitting my current job, and moving in with my parents and trying to find a job where they live. I also have a part-time job.
