I've recently learned that realtors in southwest colorado are buying houses to keep up demand. I understand that they have been told to do so by their superiors in the real estate business (perhaps NAR?). Isn't this a conflict of interest? If they buy the houses to keep demand high doesn't that violate their fiduciary duty to other buyers? Isn't this the same as a stock broker buying stock in a company just to keep the price up until he (or she) suckers other people to buy the stock? Is this happening in your area? What do you think of this?

I was married and had two children. I divorced and began a relationship with my ex husbands brother a couple years later. We also have 2 children, reside together, but are not married. For about 5 yrs now, since I was not working and was a college student, my "boyfriend" claimed "our" kids and "my" kids and filed Head of Household since he provided over half of support for all 4 kids. I graduated in Aug and have been working since then so I am going to file taxes myself this year. My "boyfriend" made almost 3 times what I made since I only worked part of the year. Is the correct way to file to have him again file Head of Household and claim all 4 kids? Or should I have him claim "our" two and then claim "my" two myself...this gets us the best refund but I'm not sure if it is okay to split the kids this way since we live in the same residence. If I split the kids, he would file Head of Household with "our" two and I would file either Head of Household of Single with "my' two.

I was looking at a book about real estate investing and it says you can take a small amount of money (Example:$10,000.00 and have the bank give you a $70,000.00 loan added to your $10,000.00 and you can invest in real estate by buying your first home. Now, how in the world is the bank going to give anyone that much money when they don't even own that much? Plus, what if they're credit is bad? I guess they can't invest in real estate can they? If they still can, please explain to me how this is possible regardless of credit history?

One country/culture/ people taking advantage of the vulnerabilty of another...and improving their own access to profits and cheap products.

I see it as the same thing.

Do people in the USA even care that all the cheap, great stuff they can get these days are the result of people who slave away 14 hrs a day just for pennies?

Or do you argue that Capitalism is a great thing and you dont care?

Is a 65 year old woman (retired) with only social security income and a small IRA considered 'judgement proof'? Does not own a home, very minimal checking, one old car. From what I can tell IRAs are protected against judgement in Nevada as well as social security income. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
