Its an open office plan, with room for 200 people and for the first time in nearly 2 years I am the only one sad enough to be here. Its abit eerie and I have to keep walking around otherwise the lights go off!. I have feel I should be doing something to celebrate this fact, but what??!!

Excellent Response!... But alas this question seems to have confused some people. To explain I am here out of choice, I am a manager and I have some stuff to take care of. The reason the office is dead is because its the holidays. This question wasnt directed at getting career advice, it was just to find out what people would do if they were in an empty office that is usually packed full of people lol.. Revoltix, good idea!

Is this a temporary thing due to the holidays? If so, I'd bring some busy work from home to pass the time. If this is more of a long term scenario, I'd be concerned how long the job will last and I'd start doing something to make myself more employable in the future. Take a course, research new careers, read trade journals etc.

I'm the only one in my office too. The phone rang once about 30 minutes ago but...yep...you guessed it....It was a wrong *!^! number!! I was the only one yesterday too. I'm half expecting the Ghost of Christmas Past to come sauntering thru the wall any minute!!!.. Clearly you're entertaining yourself on the internet just like me!!

Run around the office topless while singing Sexy Back at the top of your lungs and holding staplers in both hands and clacking them like castanets. [hopefully the CEO won't come in and make a suprise visit while you're doing this!]

Turn on the Radio, chill out to good music if possible and make sure you have a big bag of cakes, chocolates and Xmas puddings to go through.

I've used to be in that position a lot.
I hope you keep pepper spray in your purse.
Now is an excellent time to graze your fellow employees desks for snacks!
I have a friend who used to make photocopies of his,... er,... 'area' and hide them in places where they'd be found later...like the next months calendar page. It was disgusting, but hysterically funny...

Great suggestions.............do a combo of all the things you'd never normally do work naked or in weird/unusual clothes (e.g. hotpants, boob tube and woolly hat) do desk steeple chase, eat a picnic in the board/large meeting room sitting in the middle of the table, photocopy your face (or whatever) and fax it to the first ten people in the autodial list on the fax machine ..............go nuts

Ummm... my office is disturbingly like that.
I amuse myself by answering questions here, and throwing a ball against the walls and roof. I see if i can rebound it 3 times with one throw =P
