Do you have to go to college to be a tattoo artist?

I'm getting several piercings in a few days and I was wondering if using over the counter products (such as chloraseptic or Anbesol) on the area that will be pierced would be hygienic? I'm planning on using it for a Vertical Hood Piercing (which the skin is relatively thin) just to take the edge off the initial pain (since I plan on getting three piercings done that day for a quarter of the price). Anybody try this before? Did it work?

Some of them tell me that it feels like a hot razor cutting you're skin or sort of scraping it.
Please help me. I want to get it in my lower back with my kids names. Is it really painful? HONESTLY...........

my boyfriend draws very well, and he has done about 10 tattoos so that he can create a portfolio for himself(these people volunteered to be his guinea pig) how would he go about actually getting a job in a tattoo parlor.....because as far as licensing goes, I think in the state of Georgia the individual artists doesn't have to be certified, but the shop he works in must be certified(although I could be wrong)

If someone was to get a face...you know like their child's face(portrait) on their arm or chest..something like that...how much would something like this cost? I am trying to get this priced so that if I called tattoo parlors, I would know if they were charging too much, or if the price is about right....

And before anyone answers rudely.....just do me a favor, and go find another question to answer...thanks!

I have some tattoos on my legs and feet (only on my calves) and there are a few other things I would like to do there but I'm afraid it will look to cluttered because it's all different things and meaning. I like tattooing my lower legs because they are easy to cover if need be. Will it look wierd with all different things on only part of my legs? People do it with their arms but I just can't picture it on legs.

I got a lot of feed back on it before about how it looks good the way it is but I keep getting made fun of by my brother and his friends and a few other people. I've searched and searched the internet for days. I just need a decent template sort of thing for a diamond, tasteful too. Does it matter that I want it green? My boyfriend says it'll be an emerald!
PS. Don't bother telling me not to get a tattoo cos it'll look bad in 50 years time. Too late, I'm tattooed! In 50 years time, I'll be the kinda granny you won't wanna mess with, and I'll still love my ink!! ;)

i'm looking for a tribal eagle. awesome, detailed, not too huge, but big enough to make a statement. a normal, drawn-on eagle looks good, too. but nothing rednecky or too american. think military, not country pride.

this probably sounds like a bad question, but i just got a new tattoo, and the guy who did it did a shitty job. it's small enough that it shouldn'nt be too hard to get it covered over, but i was wondering, while it's fresh, will picking at the scabs get rid of some of it, or will it just screw it up?

so i have a tattoo...it's about a month and 1/2 old now. if you noticed my other questions, i was having problems with it from the beginning. it was breaking out and i though i determined it was from over moisturizing. the break out were on the skin around the ink...not on the ink itself...although i just noticed a bump on the ink...ugh!!!!!!!!!

so i stopped putting anything on it...at all. no a&d...no lotion.

well i'm still breaking out. i put lotion on it maybe 3-4 times since tops and NOT A LOT. this didn't happen with my other tattoo...this one's on my stomach...not a place i'm prone to break outs. they're not quite zits...they do pop...sort of...well i just don't know WHAT they are, or what caused them, or what i can do to STOP causing them!!!!!

now the spots will become scars. any thoughts or advice....any tattoo artists??? please help!!!

would a scar product such as mederma have an effect on the ink?? it is completely healed.

don't tell me to see my artist. tks!

Ok people I need to find the best tattoo artist in dallas. It is my first tattoo, and i don't want to have my first tattoo as a regret later. And I think that if a great artist worked on it than there would be no, reson to regret it later.. Please guys if any of you guys know well I should look into more, and see who to talk about. please help out.
