Go girl. You need to be proud of yourself age has nothing to do with beauty. More people need your courage instead of just against them. They are trying to kid themselfs Im to old or not pretty or just saying I dont like them when deep down its an excuse because they dont want other to think bad about them. Well who cares what they think we get tattood for ourselves not them.

I got my first at 38. Go for it. Us "old people" know better what we want in life anyway :)
It amazes me that many answerers on here assume everyone getting a tattoo is 25 and younger and always have to bring up the "when you are 40 and old and saggy" thing.
News flash to all: you don't stay in your 20's forever. Suddenly 30, 40, 50 and beyond doesn't seem so old.
My body is in better shape now then it ever was in my 20's.......
And now it's more decorated :)

Cool !!!

There is no limits on age and some things are wasted on the young (younger) Had my forst at 45 and have had a few more since then
All have a significance to me personally and I put a great deal of thought into each one before going uner the needle
Good luck and don't forget that it it a strangely addictive habit

i am 40 & started to get most of mine 5 years ago.i'm now very heavily tattooed.above the boob is painful but you can get cream to put on before having it done to totally numb the area & believe me you really cant feel a thing!! i dont know if you are from the US or UK but in the UK the cream is called ametop.its what they use in hospitals to numb the hand before inserting a drip.i buy mine from the pharmacy.
so,respect to you & go for it & i bet you'll want another after you've had that 1!!!!

My ma wanted one for years, then last year I had my 4th, boyf 1st and she took the plunge at 51 to have a cherub above her bum. It is the "prettiest" tat I've ever seen. It looks like a painting - all sepia tones. Well cool - so go for it.

Why should age be an issue. I say, if you want a tattoo go for it. My mother is considering one and she is in her 50's as well. I am encouraging her to do what she wants.

Tattoos are self expression and you can express yourself whenever and wherever you want. Don't let anyone tell you different.

If its something you want then go for it. Its your body and its not like you're hurting anyone else. Age is just number so ignore all the other posters saying "just think when you are old" etc, you are never to old so just enjoy it.

Just be aware that it is a little painful in that spot. I have two shooting stars above each of mine, but it'll be well worth the pain. Good luck getting your first tat.
