Theater & Acting - May 2007

Hi, I really love acting, and I have been calling casting directors the whole day and no one tells me anything so I have finally have come to a conclusion that I need an agent. I am 14 years old and I really want to appear on hannah montana or disney channel, or what the hack why not anything else, hey, I am desperate. Is there a specific agent that can get me a role on disney channel or like anything else. How do I know that the agent is good, or where do I get one? How much do t hey cost. Please help me and give any advise possible.

My dad has agreed to enroll me in the John Robert Powers Modeling Acting Singing "academy." Has anyone else done this? DOes it really help; at all? I dont want to waste my father's money. Does anyone else know of some reliable agencies in Maryland if John Robert Powers isnt? Thanks so much! i really want this to work out

I love to sing and act! I totally want to become in Broadway and I just have joy when i sing and act. Well, I'm in Jr. High. I think I have looks and personality. (Have Braces tho) So im taking musical theatre classes. I asked my parents if i could act and sing for a living and my parents said NO! they said because you have no relatives that are famous. I was so bummed and I cried a little because i really wanted to do that. I convinced my Mom if i could get an agent. She said we dont have that much money and about if we get robbed by an agent who juz wants our money. So i stayed quiet. I just sing for fun now. and have no place to act just in my classes. What do I do?? I really need help! Musical theatre is my passion. I love acting more than singing tho, but im pretty good at both! Please anyone out there to help poor me!

I REALLY want to become an actress. Not something small but something BIG. Something as big as Kirsten Dunst, or Natalie Portman, etc. I'm 14 and feel it will never happen. I've alway wanted to be an actress since I was 4....but it seems impossible. I like near pittsburgh and it isnt a very good place to actually pursue my dream. I feel as if I dont start acting now I will never start...
I'm not drop dead gorgeous but I'm not a hideous beast...but idk.
Anyone have any suggestions to help me?
Our local acting group only takes people who can SING. I cannot sing to save my life. so please dont say join your local theater because i cannot...I am taking an acting class next year in high school though.

But if anyone knows any agents in Pittsburgh PA or agencies or even auditions, please let me know.
also please tell me some ways to help me go after this dream I've had for 10 yrs. It hurts to see these people on tv and think that I've wanted that for 10 whole yrs now.

So I wrote a short script, and I'm really happy with it. It's a serious story, and it requires good acting. I need a college age female and male (to be engaged), a little 4-6 years old girl (who can be really serious), and then some older people who don't have a big part. The problem is that I don't know anyone who fits the part, and how on earth am I going to find someone who...
1) looks like the part
2) can act
3) is willing to act and spend a lot of time and effort in making the film without being paid!!!

So I guess what I am asking is if anyone has any advice on where I could get people to act in movie. And I don't live in LA or NY or anything...I live in a smalltown in KY.

This question is for a friend who doesn't have computer access.

Our university offers a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in Theatre, and I was curious.. can this degree help me become an actor?

I know I would have to work hard and audition frequently, but how helpful is this degree?

I know many big and small actors have this degree (thanks wikipedia!) because it teaches you: 1) technical theatre and design; 2) acting; 3) playwriting; 4) directing; 5) history and criticism.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I started acting about last summer, I've learned a varitey of new things, but the one thing I never learned to do confidently is Improv. Everytime someone forgets a line, I can't think of anything that would make it match and seem as if it were ment to be there.

So; does anyone have any hints or books that I can use to help improve my improvisation skills??

P.S. Please don't talk to me like I'm a 12 year old. I may only be 16 but I know what I'm talking about.

Well, my school finally has a Drama Club up and running; and our first show already planned for next year; but we already know that the school will suply us with little to help our cause. We've been in and out of meetings all week, trying to think of good ideas. We have a bake sale this weekend, and we've turned down the car wash because of trampy girls at our school wearing as little clothes as possible to the car wash.

So I was wondering if you guys could help us with some ideas to raise money??
