I REALLY want to become an actress. Not something small but something BIG. Something as big as Kirsten Dunst, or Natalie Portman, etc. I'm 14 and feel it will never happen. I've alway wanted to be an actress since I was 4....but it seems impossible. I like near pittsburgh and it isnt a very good place to actually pursue my dream. I feel as if I dont start acting now I will never start...
I'm not drop dead gorgeous but I'm not a hideous beast...but idk.
Anyone have any suggestions to help me?
Our local acting group only takes people who can SING. I cannot sing to save my life. so please dont say join your local theater because i cannot...I am taking an acting class next year in high school though.

But if anyone knows any agents in Pittsburgh PA or agencies or even auditions, please let me know.
also please tell me some ways to help me go after this dream I've had for 10 yrs. It hurts to see these people on tv and think that I've wanted that for 10 whole yrs now.

DO NOT GO TO JOHN ROBERT POWERS! It's a scam where they tell everyone who 'auditions' that they're great and can totally make it in the business, just take these expensive classes from us for a year and we'll tell you how!

Unfortunately you do not live in a hotbed of industry happenings. If you want to make it, your parents will have to be wiling to make the move to Los Angeles for you to really give it your best shot. If that's not happening, there are other things to try first...

You can search backstage.com for auditions in your area. Unfortunately to get all the info, you do have to subscribe but they may have auditions in PA occasionally. You also may be able to see enough on the free search, so wait and see on that one. Your local paper may also have auditions, you should check that out. Unfortunately for theatre, you should be able to carry a tune. Any chance you can work on that?

As for your looks, try not to concentrate on that so much. Beauty is truly on the eye of the beholder. There are plenty of big time actresses out there that I don't personally think are all that great looking. It's there confidence that people are attracted to and therefore makes them beautiful! If you exude confidence without being cocky, people will be attracted to you.

All that being said, there are some agents in PA. If you want to find a legitimate one to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.)

Then you can send them your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview.

Good luck!!

If you are willing to work extremely hard for your dream you will be able to achieve it.

The first thing that I suggest is that you take it slow and give yourself small goals to obtain. First, make it a goal to get a call back for a show, then get casted, and so on, that way you don't have to start out with trying to be something BIG because in this business it can be very difficult.

It is good that you are going to start taking acting lessons soon. Just make sure you keep taking lessons. Audition for ANYTHING that you can. You will need that experience to help you in the future. The best thing to do is to audition for theatre company's not John Robert Powers because you want to start acting and learning not paying a lot of money for nothing. You can find auditions posted at local theatre companies as well as on-line.

Don't worry about your looks. Good actresses may or may not be pretty. If you have a talent for acting that will help you to achieve your ultimate goal.

Good luck! =]

It's really hard to find work if you can't sing. If you really and truly want to pursue and acting career you should really start singing. Join your school choir or a local one in the area you live in. Look into taking vocal lessons with a professional vocal coach. You don't have to be the best singer, but you can learn to sing and sound good at it. If you say this is your life dream then make singing a part of your life. Stay involved in acting throughout school so that you can build that experience, you will need the experience to help you be comfortable. Best of luck!

What you want is to be rich and famous. You don't want to be an actor. If you want to act then you can do it. Your passion should be for the craft. Not for the money and fame. You've got it backwards. You don't get an agent and auditions without training. You're just taking your first class. Get your training first then start thinking about getting jobs. Would you ask for a job as a carpenter if you'd never hammered a nail?

Have you ever considered going to John Robert Powers Modeling and Acting? I have been there for a year now and they have agents that come and audition students. They might have a JRP in your area just go on johnrobertpowers.net Or if you don't want to go through with the training, then try going on abcasting.com or try looking up agents on the web. If you'd like to be on Nickelodeon then try looking up casting director,Harriet Greenspan. Or contact other ones
