I said that the Harry Potter character Ginny needs to learn not to pick up things that don't belong to her and that she got what was coming to her. I'm getting thumbs down, so answer this: If you found a book laying on the ground that said '(insert name here)'s journal/diary' would you just take it and start writing in it? Even for an eleven year old kid in a fantasy book, she is surprisingly stupid.

Compare and contrast two of Dickinson’s poem that deal with the subject nature, namely “Simplicity” and “A Bird Came Down The Walk”. What techniques does she use to create her indelible images?

Simplicity

HOW happy is the little stone ,That rambles in the road alone,
And does n’t care about careers, And exigencies never fears; Whose coat of elemental brown, A passing universe put on; And independent as the sun, Associates or glows alone, Fulfilling absolute decree. In casual simplicity.

A Bird Came Down The Walk

A BIRD came down the walk: He did not know I saw;
He bit an angle-worm in halves, And ate the fellow, raw.
And then he drank a dew, From a convenient grass,
And then hopped sidewise to the wall, To let a beetle pass
He glanced with rapid eyes,That hurried all abroad,
They looked like frightened beads, I though, He stirred his velvet head, Like one in danger; cautious, I offered him a crumb, And he unrolled his feathers And rowed him softer home, ....

Hey everyone!
As you probably all know, it is almost time for the 7th Harry Potter book (is anyone else having a hard time actually calling it Deathly Hallows? I've been reading these books for half my life, so I've always known it as the "7th book".) Anyway, I'm looking for recipes for Harry Potter related food, specifically butter beer, to keep me going during the read-a-thon. I've found several recipes on the internet, but would like others' opinions on which one's actually taste good. Also, any other recipes that would be good to have that night?
Thanks!

With humour, sexuality(for teens...not adults), and romance, and an over-all satisfying read.

Humour only, please. Don't bother calling me disturbed, I know I am =)

I'm just trying to be funny, though.

I like a book filled with action but it also has to have story. I don't want non-fiction, but it's fine if the story has some actual facts in it. I don't care for Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Any recommendations?

I have trouble concentrating and understanding what I'm reading, so I'm wondering if it's just the books I read.

I try to read and am very interested the book I read, but I can never finish the books.

I love comedy, mysteries, and christian books, but I am willing to try any book.

Any book suggestions that you enjoy reading and you think I might like too?

I'm translating a story (the Dubliners by James Joyce) and there's a boy who hears that his friend is dead but he's not sure. Next day he goes to his house and sees a cart which proves that his friend is dead. So the boy says: "I was disturbed to find myself at check."
I want the meaning of the sentence in quotation.

I'm writing a novel about werewolves and vampires. I need a good last name for my main character Angelica Layne .... Just to give you an idea about her... She lives near the beach and works at the local flea market. She does not drink from people's necks, but can be found at the blood bank at the hospital, where she has a friend there who is nice enough to help the girl out. She is self cofident and very sarcastic. She has long wavy fiery red hair and wears a lot of tipical vampire black, which she calls her contribution to the vampire society. Please help...I was going to go with Ickleburg... Come on I'm dying here...

Come on ... no matter what question is asked here, it seems five people have to respond "Harry Potter". What is the best romance mystery? Harry Potter. What is a good non-fiction book to read? Harry Potter. I already read Harry Potter - what else should I read? Read Harry Potter again and wait for the new one. What is the best book on existentialism? Harry Potter. What is the best book on brain surgery? Harry Potter. What is the best book on quantum physics? Harry Potter. Get over it people! They are just seven books in a universe of millions of books. Harry Potter is not the "best" book on anything! They are at best mediocre books with repetitive plots and dull characters.

So here is my question ... Do those of you who write Harry Potter as the answer to every question really believe it or am I missing the joke here? Fair question ... Pax - C

JK Rowling just announced that "scar" did not end up being the last word of Deathly Hallows (although she says the word is in there near the end).

How do you think the word "scar" will be significant, even if it's not the last word? Will Harry's scar somehow disappear when Voldemort is vanquished? Will someone else get a scar? 10 points to my favorite theory!
