I like a book filled with action but it also has to have story. I don't want non-fiction, but it's fine if the story has some actual facts in it. I don't care for Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Any recommendations?

Louis L'Amour he has written several novels about the West . Also Larry McMurtry Lonesome Dove

If you want Westerns then you HAVE to read Louis L'Amour. Start with Flint and go from there.
Some like Zane Grey but he doesn't do anything for me but you might give him a try. Also Max Brand was a fav at one point.

I think his name is Louie LaMoure (sp?) I used to read some of his stuff a while back. Good times.
