I have trouble concentrating and understanding what I'm reading, so I'm wondering if it's just the books I read.

I try to read and am very interested the book I read, but I can never finish the books.

I love comedy, mysteries, and christian books, but I am willing to try any book.

Any book suggestions that you enjoy reading and you think I might like too?

Swan Song by Robert McCammon is a very big book (don't be daunted by its size) but it is also very, very engaging. Its main theme is good vs. evil, and since you like Christian books you might appreciate that element. Also, I get the impression that you are young and the main character in this book is a little girl who grows into a young woman (16).

A word of caution, though, it is an end of the world sort of doomsday story - very redemptive and hopeful at the end - and there is a lot of violence. But it is also sweet and gentle in the right places.

I have very little patience too and I first read this book in my early twenties. I cried, laughed and shuddered my way right through to the end!

Short Storiesare good because they are the kind where you can sit down and finish reading them in an hour or 2, even less depending on how long they are. 'The Birds' by Daphne Du Maurier is impossible to put down, its only about 50 pages i think. Don't try Charles Dickens if you have trouble finishing books because his books take a while to work through just because they are wordy and dense. I love Dickens, but he isn't for everyone. You Might enjoy, 'of mice and men' by john steinbeck. It's under 100 pages i think, and a quick read.

Try a book of short stories, with less to plow through you'll be more likely to actually finish. Try Children Playing Before A Statue of Hercules edited by David Sedaris, Best American Mystery Stories, Best of Mystery by Alfred Hitchcock, Best Christain Short Stories by Brett Lott.
You may also want to try getting books on CD.

I would recommend Stephen King's Firestarter. Is was the fist novel I read (I think I was eleven). It is a very interesting story. It is entertaining and an easy read.

The title character of Firestarter is Charlene "Charlie" McGee, a young girl possessing many potential abilities, amongst them most formally pyrokinesis; the ability to create fire with her mind. Charlie is a mutant, she was born with her abilities due to her parents, Andrew "Andy" McGee and Vicky Tomlinson, having participated in a mysterious experiment during college.

It is not horror, but more of a thriller. Carley is now on the run as the government tries to track her sown to study her and eventually use her as a weapon.
