I am going to attempt to write my first novel (historical fiction). Are there any really, really good books to help out with this besides the one by Strunk and White?

I have a pretty good idea of what the novel should be like, storywise and all, but should I do the historical research first (not really a problem because I have a bachelor's degree in history) or do the outline first? How long does it take to work on an outline for a novel?

Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I got placed in advanced english next year for high school, and they came to my middle school today to tell us about it! They gave us a assignment due on the first day of school?? whats up with that I dont know but

in the Last Dragonlord series (1999)----Dragon and Phoenix(2000)...
It seems like I've been waiting years for her to finally release it.
I checked her website awhile back, and she said it was forthcoming, but that was at least 2 years ago.

no violence, sex, or swear words please and thank you. Of any category, preferably fantasy. Not Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Leven Thumps, or Chronicles of Narnia. Books like Liahona legacies are very good. Thank you for your suggestions. :D
