the dragonlance cronicles are very good. The first book is dragons of autumn twilight it is really cool.

Try the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. The Redwall series by Brian Jacques is also good but tends to be a bit violent but not graphic. It is hard because almost all fantasy books have some level of violence.

Strongly recommend this quadrilogy by L'engle.
Can get the first one super cheap used on amazon so you can see if you like it.
they are about a family of super smart kids and the adventures they have - like saving the universe etc...

Also, i'm not sure how old you are, but the Ender series is very good by Orson Scott Card. But it may be more than you are looking for

I would suggest the Babysitter's Club or the Boxcart Children Series. They're pretty safe to read as books.

if you like fantasy, you have to read 'the lord of the rings'!

also try 'the once and future king'. its about the myth of king arthur and camelot.
