They would have to be very quiet and they only would speak in whispers and move around only at night so no one would know they were there. Ann wrote about how awful things were for them, knowing that one false move and they would be sentenced to death and even the people who were hiding them. In the middle of this she even found her heart filling with love for a boy, even though she really thought she would never live to fulfill her longing. Eventually they were found and sent to a concentration camp. Her diary was found and published by a surviving family member.
