I am looking for the very best guide to style in visual art that is currently available. I want excellent quality & well presented print reproduction of the art being discussed and engaging explanatory text that is not too academic. It's absolutely OK if the book centers entirely on painting.

Yes, this is probably what many people call a coffee-table style book but I'll use the example of what I think is the best way to design/publish cookbooks as an example - as the book lies open there would be a large format sharp image of the finished product on one page and the actual recipe with associated notes/comments on the other.

I think you get the idea. I want a great-to-look-at book but one that is a thorough and legitimate period/style/technique/etc. overview.

Thank you, in advance, for your recommendation.

Books for teenagers (of course)

No chick flicky books D:

Any good book that 'at least' contain:
-fantasy
-comedy
-romance
-a little action

For short, a book that's really gripping that I won't be able to put down..

Any of those?

in the first movie hagrids hut was right next to the school in the third it was moved down hill ??
also in the first movie the fat lady portrait( the door to the gryffindor common room) is a really old looking woman w/ no humor atall in hte third they change her for a newer looking portrait.
in the second movie the whoomping willow was next to the school but, in the third, it was moved closer to hagris hut which also has been moved!!
am i the only 1 who thinks this is kind of odd?

oh ya! in the third movie the lake by which harry fought off the dementors , is that the same lake they used in the forth?? jkr only mentions 1 lake near hogwarts??? odd hu?

When Snape uses avada kedavra on Dumbledore, Dumbledore is suspended in air and blasted back off the tower. But every other time we see this spell used (Cedric, the spider, etc.) the victim just crumples down dead. Why was it different with Dumbledore?

That that wasnt the REAL Dumbledore who died? I think it was someone impersonating him... Because dumbledore CAN'T die. He was cool.

I'm writing a regency fiction, and can't think up a name for it that's not too corny.... It's about a courtesan and a Viscount. So here's the titles I thought up of:

-Come in with the rain (I really wanted the word "rain" in my title...but I don't think it's very historical romance-ish)

-Thorn of a rose

-In Her Eyes

-Remember When (My friend said this was the most suitable)

-The Runaway Courtesan (this is the present title I'm using, but it sounds a bit...corny? Or so my readers say. And I'm not to satisfied with it myself)

-And I Kissed Him

-Shades of Heaven

Anyways, any more suggestions? I'm horrid when it comes to thinking up titles. I'd like some suggestions of titles that might include....say....."storm" or "thorn" or .... "Remember" yah, lols

I suppose I mean, do I suddenly realize those three books (a set by Jane Austin) are the ones I wanted most out of a large order to Dover for books? It's like the kid who wanted the one thing he did not get for Christmas more than all the rest. Or did I really want the Austin books most? How can I tell, now that they are "the forbidden fruit"?

Or at least the temporarily denied fruit.

Have read Tess and need a few novels to compare or contrast with for one of my English Literature assignments.

Either a similar or v.different text by Thomas Hardy himself.

Or a similar themed text by a contemporary of Hardy.

Ideally I should be looking at around 4 main texts that all interlink through themes etc.

I would be grateful for any ideas/ suggestions relating to other novels and Tess itself.

Just looking for a starting point.

Thank You.
