You'll probably love CS Lewis's sci fi trilogy:

Out of the Silent Planet
Perelandra
That Hideous Strength

Also, I would recommend Ursual LeGuin's Earth Sea books (used to be a trilogy). Start with "the Wizard of Earthsea".

For romance you need to read anything by Nora Roberts: the best she's written lately:
Morrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Silence trilogy has some fantasy stuff in it...witches, wizards, vampires, and all that---it's incredible!
Also, I recommend by Nora:
Northern Lights
Blue Smoke
The Reef
Honest Illusions
True Betrayals
Genuine Lies
Also, Nora has another pen name: J.D. Robb. It's futuristic romantic fiction at its best. You'll love Roarke, her most celebrated character. I've read the whole series. Start from the beginning with Naked in Death. There's a booklist on her website: www.noraroberts.com. Just go to the Boolists link at the top and click on J.D. Robb Books.
You'll love them!!!
