No, absolutely not! The point of the horcrux is so you don't die, to cheat death. Dumbledore said that "to the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." in book one and in book five he said "There are many things worse than death, Tom." or something to that effect when dueling with Voldemort. He wasn't afraid to die, and you're right, he wouldn't murder anyone, it's not in his nature, it's not in his character. Having a horcrux would be a total betrayal of what he represents in the books.

I don't think that either. It's one of the worse theories I've heard. It's obvious from the way Dumbledore talks about it that he's not too keen on the whole horcrux thing. I think it's just a way to explain the method of his death (which I still don't understand!) and people are so desperate wanting him to come back that they'll believe anything.

The use of the "Unforgivable Curses" was authorized for use against Death Eaters during the first rise of Voldemort, and Dumbledore is never mentioned as having never used them, even though Mad eye IS described as never using them. It's safe to assume that he used at least some of them.
When Dumbledore tells Harry about Horcruxes he says you have to split your soul, and that ONE WAY to do that is to commit murder. He says that there are other ways, but does not elaborate.
Finally, the Killing Curse causes people to simply slump to the ground dead, but Voldemort literally exploded, while Dumbledore was blown backwards by the curse. Clearly, people with a Horcrux do not die from the killing curse in the same way.
Dumbledore has a Horcrux, this is why Rowling has said he's causing her so much trouble, even though he's dead.
He MAY have made it by killing a Death Eater in battle, but there are other ways to split your soul and Dumbledore knows at least some of them.

I have to agree. No horcrux for Dumbledore. I think we will see Dumbledore in the final book at some point, but more likely as a memory from the pensive, or as a spirit.

It all depends on WHO,or WHAT, you kill... Dumbledore new there was more then one way to create a horcrux.
When Dumbledore tells Harry about Horcruxes he indicates you must split your soul, and that one way to do it is murder. However, he also says that there are other ways.

who said that Dumbledore had a Horcrux?? and if he did, he wouldn't have died. and his portrait wouldn't have appeared in the headmasters office if he hadn't died. so yeah, i would have to say Dumbledore is DEAD. its a sad fact, but its a fact.

after reading some of the comments on here i guess it is possible that he could have done it but surley if that was the case then he wouldnt be in his portrait and fawkes would have known he was still alive and not left hogwarts unless fawkes did know and now has gone to join him wherever he is but i still dont think he is alive though otherwise he wouldnt be in his portrait

True and Dumbledore never seeked for a horocrux; Lord Voldemort did that; he did that in order to make himself immortal.
