Personally I love Stephen King. Watched the green mile again last night and it reminded me just how brilliant he is. Can never put one of his books down.

It's often mentioned that it's over 20, but is there any kind of list available as to what those languages are?

The foreign titles would also be useful, if you know them.

Okay, I admit I love Edward Cullen and his lovely vampire family as much as the next person. I think Louis and his struggle to embrace his nature is interesting. What I wonder is, are we doing a disservice to vampires when we make them all cute and cuddly, or at least able to control their appetites when it suits them, feed on animals, fall in love with mortals, etc.?

To me, the truest vampire in literature remains Stoker's Count Dracula. He's a very complex fellow. He still feels human emotion, in my opinion, but he has fully embraced his nature, and he knows exactly where he fits on the food chain. He's at the top. He likes it there. And I like that he likes it there. A creature with such great powers, a perfect predator, belongs at the top.

Vampires are such interesting creatures, but to me, it robs them of part of their majesty and grace when writers "dilute" them and make them more human than not.

What are your feelings? Please cite works, if possible.

Thanks.

I think her books are elevating our youths. They have no merit and give a sense of non-reality to her works. While she is no drought a great author, I do not see her works as a l see her works as a as a literary work of art. I do not see her as a great author, although many would disagree with me.

I'm a big Harry Potter fan. I've read the books and seen all the movies. But it's been quite a while since I read the 5th book and i want to make sure i dont miss out on any names or previous events that will be mentioned in the upcoming 5th movie. I'm just looking for a website that has detailed plot summary and review for the previous 4 books/movie. Anyone have one?

I want my sci-fi/thriller to be about an escape from a town. The problem is that for almost my whole life I lived in San Diego, where theres only one sunny weather for the whole year.

San Diego is definiatly not the kind of place I want my novel to take place in, but since I never lived anywhere else, I can't even imagine what other towns would be like!

Even if I make up my own town, I still need at least some groundwork. How do other people come up with facinating setting? I dont get it. The town has to be interesting, and alot of potential for a good story.

I want to write a novel and I have all my character descriptions with me but I'd much rather write freely than do an outline. Is it any better to write a book with an outline vs. not having one?

I'm partially lazy about outlining my book plus all the ideas I have about the story are just exploding in my head like fireworks.

I'm not looking for the obvious books like Harry Potter, LOTR, etc... For example, I just finished a book called "If Only It Were True" by Marc Levy, which is the book the movie "Just Like Heaven" is based off of.
So, does anyone have any suggestions??

I'm writing a regency fiction, and can't think up a name for it that's not too corny.... It's about a courtesan and a Viscount. So here's the titles I thought up of:

-Come in with the rain (I really wanted the word "rain" in my title...but I don't think it's very historical romance-ish)

-Go the distance

-In Her Eyes

-Remember When (My friend said this was the most suitable)

-The Runaway Courtesan (this is the present title I'm using, but it sounds a bit...corny? Or so my readers say. And I'm not to satisfied with it myself)

-And I Kissed Him

Anyways, any more suggestions? I'm horrid when it comes to thinking up titles. I'd like some suggestions of titles that might include....say....."storm" or "thorn" or .... "Remember" yah, lols

I asked for tips and help before on writing a book but I got really great responses last time, but I want even more. I would really appreciate if all you writers can give me some tips, some mistakes that you made when you were still a beginner, etc. Anything that would help me with my novel. Pretend that you're talking to someone that knows nothing about writing a novel or a short story.

It doesn't have to be general, it can be specific or anything.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure how to write dialoge in my book. The first copy of the book that my friend read, made her a little confused about who was saying what.

i know that you have to start a new paragraph evertime someone new starts talking but i dont know whether to do something like this or not.

Amber says, "How could you do such a thing!" Leslie laughs and says,
"It was easy, expecially with you to help me out."

or is it like this???
