I share your love of SK but have also found that Dean Koontz, Clive Barker, Sue Grafton, John Sandford, Hawks, Scott Smith, Sarah Gruen, Tami Hoag etc etc. All write equally as good in other genres. If you love King his son Joe Hill has a great book out called Heart Shaped Box. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...

I do love Stephen King quite a bit but to say he's the BEST author ever (or even the best author alive) is an incredible stretch. There's so much history to literature that you can't narrow it down to him. I'd say he's the best of his sort currently still publishing books (by far) but as for best ever....that would go to Charles Dickens in my opinion.

I know that some of my friends in primary school used to read Stephen King so he must be popular with some types of persons.

Over all, God is the best author.
In terms of any other book, I think I would have to say Charles Dickens. His writing is amazing, and an inspiration to me.
