My son is in a summer reading program and needs to read some biographies...is not his favorite subject and would like to find some that would make him more interested in reading (or at least finish the book).

I was reading some Harry Potter questions and a theory popped into my head. Tell me what you guys think about it...

When Voldemort came back in GoF, did he use a horcrux? If he did, could that have been the locket? I got to thinking, if he didn't use a horcrux, how did he become full-bodied?
Had Voldemort already used the locket horcrux, could he have made up the note? If he did, that would be a trap for that person that found the fake, because it would send them on a life-long search. They Probably wouldn't find any others because they were too busy looking for the locket. It would drive them insane.

It's nothing set in stne, just an idea.

I mean, just hypothetically speaking...

If I were to compile a book of poetry, (or another way?) what should I do with it?

Would I print it out and send it to a publisher? Would I print it out and send it to heaps of publishers hoping one likes it?
How would I find the best publisher?
How would I go about it all, How does it work?
I have no idea and am curious. Thanks

I heard a couple of years ago that Diana's original The Outlander was purchased for the movie rites. I've not heard anything more about it.

And I'm referring to anything; short story, poetry, ect.
Did you ever have any of your work published in any type of magazine?
How much money do they typically offer? [um, I know this can vary]
When you finally got a response in the mail, what exciting things were said in your letter to let you know your work was wanted?
[just curious :-) ; sounds exciting]

I'm asking because I found this on Jo's homepage, in Rumours:

CROOKSHANKS IS AN ANIMAGUS
18/02/04
No, he’s not, but he’s not pure cat either. If you but Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them … you might just be able to work out what Crookshanks really is.

I have FBaWtFT, but I can't figure it out...

One of my friends said that we get a sort of "abridged" version. If so, does anyone know where I could order the UK books? Just wondering...

The book. Not the movie, the book.

I read Congo and, frankly, it was terrible (especially when compared to King Solomon's Mines). I haven't given Crichton a thought since then, but then someone here mentioned how good the book was....

So is it *really* any good?

What I like to read (at age 45):
Fantasy
SciFi
History
Bible
Archaeology
Science
Adventure

Thanks for the help!

Does the war influence your reading choices? Are you able to escape into literature knowing that your country (assuming you are from the U.S.) is heavily involved in a war that seems to be getting worse every day?

I am looking for a book, reading level between adult and young adult, that is at least 225 pages. It needs to be about a character that is striving for a goal. Throughout the plot that character has to go through several challenges and overcome obstacles to get to that goal, and finally reaches it in the end. A character in strive of their passion...

I would prefer a book more up to date...

Can someone tell me how to write books that people will remember after they finish reading it? I'm reading so many books right now that I enjoy while I'm reading, but afterwards I find that it really didn't affect my life at all and I forget it after a few days.

I don't want my novels to be like that. Can anyone please help me? Nothing vague please.
