Can someone tell me how to write books that people will remember after they finish reading it? I'm reading so many books right now that I enjoy while I'm reading, but afterwards I find that it really didn't affect my life at all and I forget it after a few days.

I don't want my novels to be like that. Can anyone please help me? Nothing vague please.

Oh, and I only write fiction books, so I'm mainly looking for how to affect people through stories.

Someone like you would need to write books in the fashion of Harry Potter. There are many many followers of these books and, if you don't think so, just look at the questions on Yahoo Answers alone. Fiction needs to ring a person bell many times over. The novel needs to dwell into a person's soul and make them realize that it's only fiction, but it tends to give them a sense of deja vu and a compelling sense of familiarity, in that, they say to themselves "I've been there."

Look at Frankenstein, Dracula... These books have been made into all sorts of variations in movies. All were made over and over again because people wanted more. This is why some authors created characters whom they used over and over again in difference scenarios. A good example would be the works of James Patterson and his Alex Cross character.

Do this and you've accomplished something. People will remember your name, your works. They'll set up websites and groups in praise of your name and work. Then, you can sit back and say, "I've done it. I've created something that people want and will actually pay to get."

You don't want someone to tell you how to write. You want to learn. This way you write like YOU, not someone else. The libraries and bookstores are loaded with some great works that can teach a potential writer so very much. Use them.

Good luck!

Hello; this is a deep question SO the type of books that you are looking to write would be under the self-help section. It would have to be written in a mater that your readers can apply what is being said to there own life situation. a examplw would be " Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill. Self help books, esp if they are up to date , are still neede in these times. I could be wrong but this is what I thinkl.

You really have to hit a raw nerve. You have to dig deep into the reader's emotional chambers for the reader not soon to forget about the book. Strong emotions as love, fear, and death usually sticks to the reader.

well why don't you write your story, and then ask a friend or family member to be a critic, ask them to give their honest opinion because constructive criticism is good, and ask them if it puts them to sleep or left them just dying to read more.
