I've thought about uploading material to an FTP, but is there any other way to share material long-distance?

don't know the "best" way, but my partner and I use a yahoo group format, it is better than nothing.

if you're talking about book, you don't need ftp, simple email can do. Yahoo has no limit on its inbox anymore. Or you can chat via YM and exchange file over file transfer feature of YM. IT's real time sharing of ideas.

If you could do it, have a web page wherein the other person can read, make changes directly.
