Order Harry Potter on Amazon.com by the 17th and they garuntee same day shipping or your money back! If you preorder Eclipse on Walmart.com they say that it will be in on release date or the day after!

The Harry Potter book will arrive on the 21st b/c Amazon is guaranteeing delivery them. I don't know about Eclipse but when I order on Amazon my books usually come pretty close to the release date like maybe the next day.

Harry Potter is guaranteed arrival on the publication date; Eclipse will probably take 3-5 days, depending. I ordered the last Lemony Snicket book (pre-ordered, I should say) and was seeing questions on here about the actual story before I got my copy.

If you want Eclipse immediately, you ought to pre-order locally and pick it up; if you can wait a few days, the convenience is good.

I saw for Harry Potter, the last day for guaranteed delivery is July 17. For the 6th book, mine did arrive on Satuday. I'm hoping to be early on the UPS delivery route that day.

P.S. True about delivery methods. Expedited shipping will get the book faster to you, but I'm pretty sure Eclipse won't arrive the day it comes out.

Amazon is saying to pre-order "Deathly Hallows" by noon on the 17th to have it arrive on the release date. Sometimes books pre-ordered online arrive before the release date (I'm a Star Wars fan and had folks getting books at least a few weeks before they were released because they ordered online) while sometimes their not shipped until a point where they can arrive on the release date. Depends on the publisher I guess.

Preorder means you've asked for it before it has been made available by the publisher. Amazon is very good about sending it out the same day they receive the book, which is the publication date or the day after. The actual time you receive it depends on the mode of shipping you have chosen.
