My favourites (starting from best):
1. Into the Wild by Erin Hunter
2. The Sight by Erin Hunter
3. Sunset by Erin Hunter
Sorry that all books are by Erin Hunter and all are in the same series called 'WARRIORS'. I'm a fan of the WARRIORS series. It's just so cool!

If you want a lot to think about, Vonnegut is a good author to check out. I really liked Slaughterhouse Five. The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon is also really interesting. Anything by Jane Austen is good to check out, I know we read Pride and Prejudice for the summer assignment when I took AP Lit. The Awakening by Kate Chopin, Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston, The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad are all good ones to look at. We read many of them in my Ap class as well. I hope some of those interest you.

Read The Foundation (and the Robot novels, and the other books in the same series) by Isaac Asimov, you'll probably like them, they are some of the best books I've read, and they are all tied together. It (The Foundation novels) won the Hugo for best all time series (it even beat The Lord of the Rings) and it's fasinating (and really makes you think). He's the author that came up with the three laws of robotics, among other things.

I agree with Jim and JackofallTrades. ANY book by John Steinbeck is a good choice. To Jack's list, I would add "The Good Earth" by Pearl Buck and The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
Happy reading!

I enjoy the sisterhood of the travelling pants series by ann brashares, the harry potter series (however i am not much of a fan of the 6th book) and books by meg cabot. I hope to read Pride and prejudice for fun as soon as i finish reading the HP books again. ~

I strongly suggest anything by Sarah Dessen. Such as... The Truth About Forever, Keeping the Moon, This Lullaby, and many more. Her books are INCREDIBLE.
