The main character in "Mysterious Ways" does not fair so well in the end of the book. Any ideas on theme or where Davis was going with this?

I have read many books, some of which are Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment", Shelley's "Frankenstein", Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and My Hyde", Homer's "Iliad" and "Odyssey" and some of Poe's works. Bearing my area of interest in mind, what book do you recommend I read? If the original work was not in English, which translation is adequate? Do you recommend I re-read a book?

I'm looking for fictional books, but ones that are set in Chicago and/or concern Chicago's history, preferably around the 19th century. Amazon has been rather unhelpful.

I'm trying to get back into reading(it's been about 5 years since I picked up a book) And every book store I've been to only seems to have books that are either sex and the city rip offs, harry potter rip offs or really bad vampire novels.
I want modern fiction that will make you think and entertain. something with a fresh story.(sorry if that sounds corny but thats what I want)

Please look at my proposed book cover and tell me what you think.

You can view the cover and a brief description of the novel here: www.axelhansen.com

I've set up an easy way for you to rate it. If you'd like to make suggestions I'd appreciate that too.

Your gender and age group would be helpful too.

Who thinks that (in the 6th Harry Potter book) Snape really just killed, or pretended to kill, Dumbledore so that Voldemort would trust him, or if he really was just evil all along and finally got his chance?

Personally, I think Snape was just doing what was right and fooling everybody. He and Dumbledore probably planned it out. Think of it: EVERY SINGLE TIME you thought Snape was evil FOR SURE, he wasn't. J.K. Rowling is just really, really good at making you believe anything.

If you disagree with me, please let me know. When does number 7 come out? What do you know about it?

Back in college, I remember hearing about a book that chronicles the "true" history of America, and not the glamuorized version of history... but cannot remember the name of the book. From what I understand I was written sometime between 1960-1980 (maybe later) and is very popular among intellectual college students. Can someone help me?

I want to give it to my BF. we have been dating 3 months and i want him to know what i feel.

***************************

You are sweet and I surrender- give in to this embrace
my arms would hold only you

from this breath to the last

take a chance believe this sweet grace

that stirs my soul remove all pain from the past
can you feel it too,

in your eyes in your smile that lights upon me?

Take me now into your soul - give in to your heart

show me life, show me love

lets discover

promise me dreams, promise me hope that never shall part

take me now as a friend as a soul as a lover

Would your fear be so strong, your heart so torn to deny me?
