The Beatles, they changed the world and changed music forever. Unfortunately you had to be there while it was happening. There was never anything like them before and there never will be another like them. They were a social phenomenon. It was much more then the music and they were leading the pack. That takes nothing away from all the other music that followed them but they broke down the wall and set music free. Rock and roll was the first step with Chuck Berry, Elvis and all the other rockers making it to this wall of conservatism that was strangling this country. The Beatles set us all free to be ourselves and that revolution is still going strong.

Queen. Here are some reasons:
1. It's members/ the talent: Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon were trained and educated in music; this enabled them to compose songs for the whole band- each member of Queen wrote a number one song, most of them, multiple songs. They wrote all their own stuff.
2. The songs (here are a few): We are the Champions, We will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust, Who wants to Live Forever, Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, etc.
3. the vocals. The God (Freddie Mercury) not only had the best range and voice in the field, but could out perform everyone in a live concert too. The band members could sing back up and harmonize. They didn't need to hire outside help.
4. They didn't get in petty fights and disagreements about tonalilty and break up for several years, like the Eagles.

before you all ignore this or start shouting, remember they had a huge fan group, their tours were fantastic and the songs and routines were brilliant.

I know not many people on here will agree as unfortunately they didn't do great in the usa. However they will always be the greatest to me as i was going thru a rough time and the songs sometime reflected how i felt or if it was an upbeat song it would cheer me up.
