Shakespeare was perverted, exceptionally in his comedies, but I love watching his plays. My favorite is Titus Androgynous
Alexander Dumas is one of my favorite authors, the Count of Monte Cristo is my favorite by him.
Both are clever, and good at creating plot lines. (something lacking in many novels)

Vancouver, Canada, has a wonderful summer Shakespearean festival called 'Bard on the Beach' which presents Shakespeare in a tent, on the beach, with the back of the tent open so the North Shore mountains are visible, along with the evening sky, and the sunset. It's a magnificent setting. The program has been running for 15 years now, and is sold out almost from the opening day in early June, to the closing day in late September.
There is also a Shakespeare festival in Oregon (very close to the California border) where plays are presented in Elizabethan style, and another in Eastern Canada, near Toronto.
It appears the Bard is alive and well and living in Canada and the Pacific Northwest....
Dumas hasn't had such a revival, but his Musketeers have been the theme of several movies.

Stratford upon Avon in Ontario Canada is very well known for their Shakespeare Theater. Stratford is a very nice town.
And if anyone is interested Niagara-on-the-lake in Ontario
has a yearly Shaw festival. This is a very picturesque town,
