White Album by The Beatles, just so many great tracks on it. I can listen to it again and again.

Depends on your generation.
Dark Side of the Moon had it all, but everything moves on.
Hotel California needs a mention, but music and lyrics are too personal to nail down the best.
Which albums had the most influence on a generation is more to the question.

Michael Jackson - Thriller
(even though he turned out to be a freak of nature and a big disappointment... still can't take away the fact that the album was great)
The only album I ever heard, that I actually loved all the songs on it.

Theres no way you can say one album is the greatest of all time. Theres just too many factors that come into play. But one that would be on the list for sure is Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".

Demon Days by Gorillaz...
One of the only albums where I have liked EVERY track, including the bonus ones. With such a diverse style of music, I think everyone could find at least 1 track that they like, even if they're not great fans of the band. Talking of the band... what a concept, eh? Check it out if you haven't already.

I think these both may be a bit predictable but....
Metallica by Metallica
Sgt Peppers by the Beatles
Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
All classic albums in different genres and must haves in any serious collection.

I would have to go with Pink Floyd's "Darkside of the Moon." It is a whole production that goes together and tells a story, portrays feelings and emotions. Not just some songs jumbled together.
Could be "The Wall" too, for the same reason.

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Why? It's a musical and visual work of art.
